Rather than get all worked up over the "norsecore!" debates of years past I always enjoyed late period Immortal for what is was: good blackened heavy metal.

What the hell is so bad about "norsecore"? While I don't mind some slower paced atmospheric black metal, why do some of these shitty one off demo bands complain about bands like Marduk or Endstille? I never understood that.

I understand the complaints about bands like post Secrets of the Black Arts Dark Funeral and maybe a couple Marduk albums, but yeah, the whole 'norsecore' thing struck me as basically how you say it, so black metal fans basically being irrational.

Well, the reason why so-called norsecore doesn't do anything for me, personally, is because I always found them too sterile and emotionless; and the constant hyper-blasting just irritates me.
I recall you and I had a brief converstaion about my views on black metal and how it puts my mind into a sort of alpha-wave state; I do enjoy the Sturm und Drang strain of many black metal bands, but ultimately I seek black metal that takes my mind away and norsecore, with it's incessant hyper-blasting, roared vox and lack of ambience, just interferes with that whole trip.

And there is too much that I enjoy listening to paired with too little time to bother with things I don't enjoy.
But, hey, if you and others like it, cool.

It isn't my favorite style; I always preferred the slower Marduk albums, and one of my least favorite bands in the world is post debut Dark Funeral. My point was that albums like the aforementioned Immortal were getting unfairly lumped in to the designation; when much of it is actually mid-paced.
