Listening to Ethica Odini on myspace .. getting somewhat mixed feelings. I like the opening couple of minutes or so then it kinds of degenerates a bit, but I suppose the vocals are interesting enough for it to grow on you. Getting more of a pop vibe from them.

I like what I'm hearing. Sounds like a step closer to Opeth territory to me. I'm looking forward to the new album for sure.

I'll definitely jump on this bandwagon 🙂 I've liked everything I've heard from the new Enslaved as well. I plan to pre-order it from Century Media with a few other Sept. 28th releases.

I'll definitely jump on this bandwagon 🙂 I've liked everything I've heard from the new Enslaved as well. I plan to pre-order it from Century Media with a few other Sept. 28th releases.

They weren't going to backtrack, so I do appreciate a bit of a newer direction from them, as I found Ruun and Vertebrae a little too samey-sounding. I like this track, and I hope they can break further into the mainstream; if anyone deserves it, it is the band that released Vikinglingr Veldi, Eld, and Isa.

How could have predicted in 1995, that of the entire Norwegian second wave, it would be Enslaved who best found the balance between progressing towards an expanded audience yet maintaining their artistic credibility?

It's nothing like Traced in style at all. It's much more straight forward technical death metal. It's nowhere near as good as Traced in Air, either, but that's not to say it's not really good. I mean, world peace and an end to global poverty is nowhere near as good as Traced in Air.

I don't hate Elements, it's a fun album. But I would say this is better, if a lot less experimental in spirit.
