This for me, too. I find it really a baffling album...everything before Ogechee Hymnal is marred by an annoying-as-fuck bass drum sound that drowns out the guitars and pretty much ruins what are otherwise good songs in Jake Leg and Swollen and Halo, although I'm not sure anything could make up for those absolutely horrendous vocals on Jake Leg. But, the back half of the album loses that drum sound and is just way fucking better overall. Weird.

I have none of those issues. Her neck is made out of cracked eggs, bro.

tbh, that's not the album I would go for if I was trying to get into them.

Oh god no. I still in many ways wrestle with that album and have enjoyed it in the past but it really didn't click with me the last time I tried it.

there's no way a fan of doom metal can not appreciate some of the riffs on this album.

I'd say go smoke a bowl and listen to Rocka Rolla right now, but I doubt that'll happen. But still, check it out. Awesome 70s prog rock, proto-metal, stoner goodness.

Swollen and Halo at around 1:05 is where I hear it. But if you don't mind, more power to you...Baroness is still awesome. The second half of Blue Record and Red Album are just better, IMO.
