Portal - Illoomorpheme
So third time listening to this now. First time was kind of like my first reaction to Portal when Outre came out, which was basically that it was rather unremarkable and nothing like what people were saying. I was tempted not to go back to it at all, but did.
On the third listen of Swarth, oddly enough the riffs are starting to take on a bit of catchiness to them, which seems to swerve away from the original intent. Kind of turning out to be a fun listen now instead of a talentless blur, and if I could find a cheap copy I might even purchase it at some point. Looking up the lyrics on the third listen has added to the experience, I find. I think they might be my favourite part, heh (especially on Larvae).
I still don't find it unsettling or disturbing in the least, though, and still don't get why so many find it to be unsettling. This album is starting to grow on me a bit, though, for whatever reason. Still don't think it rivals what Axis is doing.
I get what they're trying to do here, I just don't think they succeed. Thanks for bringing me back to them, though. Like I said, starting to enjoy this a bit.
