Fear Candy 89 - Terrorizer compilation
Only band I know on this one is Sinister (and they sound awesomely heavy - loving the guitar tone!).
Oh and what's the point of folk metal bands ala Turisas (or some of the other similar one's I've heard)?
It's all very bland, gutless, uninspiring, boring and irrelevant.
It lacks the pompousness and melody of Power Metal, the stark, epic soundscapes of later Bathory or the intensity of "Prince Of The Poverty Line" Skyclad.
The daft thing is they dress like warriors, yet they do not sound anything warlike.
You know you hear Bolt Thrower's "When Glory Beckons" and you want to charge a machine gun nest. Or you hear Bathory's "Death and Resurrection of a Northern Son" and you can imagine violent Norse battle with lots of blood. Or Iron Maiden "Ace High" which makes me imagine Spitfires and Hurricanes slugging it out with Bf109's while trying to take on German bomber fleets.
Or Skinless who makes you want to drive tanks over people.
But Battle/Folk/Wankoff shit like Turisas doesn't make me think war.
Maybe some gay sailors ala Village People....maybe that's the point.
