Well i've just listened to the rest of the album (Catch Of The Century - Fucking With Fire). My last post about this album, i only had time to hear it upto Save Me.
I tell you what, i am even more impressed with the 2nd half than the first half. This album rocks and i cant see why most of you are putting it down.
Just because it isnt a Vain Glory Opera or Theatre Of Salvation. How boring would that be if all they did was do the same fomula like VGO with every album?
Those who wish they kept making Theatre Of Salvation over and over are the ones who are afraid of change....i pity you....
Me personally, i thought Mandrake, The Savage Poetry and Hellfire Club were better overall than Vain Glory Opera and Theatre Of Salvation.
Anyway onto the marvellous Rocket Ride...
Hands down, an awesome Edguy release, exactly what i was hoping for and more. The best tracks for me include Superheroes, Catch Of The Century, Fucking With Fire, Save Me and Sacrifice.
And yes, i think Trinidad is great. Just a fun song along the lines of Lavatory Love Machine, but not as good. The best part is in the chorus when you hear "Marnananana" in the background at the end of each sentence
Fucking With Fire has that great 80's beat and riff that i love, being a big fan of AC/DC, Kiss and then all those 80's hair metal bands that used the same fomula.
Superheroes is your typical rockin' Edguy track, ala King Of Fools. Kickin' beat, with a nice "Peter Gunn Theme" riff at the start. Great track.
Out Of Vogue is pretty good, one of the more speedier tracks that we are used to with Edguy. Still has that fun feel to it.
Catch Of The Century kicks ass! The beat and riffs are just right up my alley. I love this sound. Very catchy chorus. Tobias' voice just makes this song so much better when he's singing in a fun way, not the serious way than in previous albums. Kickin' solo too.
IMO, the 2 poorest songs on the album is the title track and Return To The Tribe. When i say poor, i dont mean bad, just that the other tracks are better.
Overall, i love this album. Sure its not power metal, but who fucking cares. It rocks, it's fun, it's catchy and that's all that matters.
My score: 94/100 and a very strong contender for album of the year, but there's a LONG way to go yet. But it'll definatelly be in my top 5.
Those who embrace change (that works) and love Edguy, go out and buy this album. Those who are stuck wishing Edguy made nothing but VGO and TOS over and over (and thinking they peaked at those albums

), then you wont like it. Too bad for you cause you dont know what you're missing.
