Not fair. We're not fighting, it's still a civil discussion.

Wouldn't that be considered pure hardcore?

Dude, you sound like you're trying to set me up. No, when I said "pure hardcore" I was referring to old school hardcore.

Not paranoid, just read above. That's exactly what it sounds like.

Nothing like re-responding to something you always responded to.

At the risk of being called a smartass, I'll decline to comment.

I dunno.. from that From Ashes To Embers/FEAR sample I'd say they are closer to nu-metal than anything else.

They're essentially outside of any one genre, thus all the incorrect labels. If I had to place them in a genre, or describe their style, rather, I'd say they were atmospheric metal. They remind me of a harsher version of what Anathema is doing now.

Labelling bands seems to be getting harder as time goes on. Why must we label anyways?

"Hey, what kind of music do you like?"
"...I don't know."

Well, I think is better to say generic labels, like Metal, or I like these bands, that saying "I like semiprogressive symphonic black metal with melodeath influences", cause, then you says, like ..., and someones says "eh, dude, what you say, they are traditional norwen black with brutal death influences, and that only in the third album". Just look at the forums to see that it happens.

Generic label work as a reference, but most bands can't be fixed inside a closed taxonomy, and some inside a very loosy category (Limpz are metal? I know are shit, but metal, there will be different opinions).

And well, if someone asks me, I will say "good music, or groups that I like", cause mainly I listen metal and Hard Rock , but I like Radiohead, Queen or Pink Floyd.

I think labels are a necessary evil, so to speak. The problem is when people start trying to split the genre into a million sub-genres, then you get stupid arguments and whatnot. Most bands, though, can be justifiably placed in genres like power metal, traditional metal, doom metal, rapcore, hardcore, etc., but some bands will always be hard to slap a label on.

For anyone who cares (and to get this review on topic again), I uploaded another song from Ashes To Embers. This song is called "The End Result Of Falling" and I think it represents that Pink Floyd/Anathema connection I was talking about. I think the band is better on these sort of songs and I think this new album could have used a little more of that.

From Ashes To Embers:
FEAR
THE END RESULT OF FALLING

From Prisons:
IT ALL DIES TODAY

From the Disintergrate EP:
HOPELESS

4 pages of discussion made me listen to one of the samples that eyesore posted, and its definitely not metalcore. Its kind of like a really light version of Swarm of the Lotus (they're awesome!!!). If there was a gun to my head I would describe them as melodic sludge metal.

They have potential though, some cool stuff going on. Maybe too much melody though?
