Meh. That's what he gets for posting his incoherent nonsense here in the first place. I never did get what he was trying to say. Apparently he went to Arson class instead of English in school.

Yet these people do it and we're all "Yeah! Black metal!", he does it and we take the piss unmercifully? Double standards...

I don't want it to a bm connection anyway. The religious right in the states doesn't need to suddenly make bm a crusade to fight against.

To you in liberal, pot-smoking Holland, maybe. To our American brothers and sister, that would be pretty shitty If they got socially ostracised for listening to devil-summoning music. Truthfully, I'm suprised it hasn't happened yet.

I'm sure that the American religious right will take advice from a country that has legends about little boys putting their fingers in dykes.

That's not what I meant, I'd like to see things the religious right have a big ass problem, and people will really look for the genres if they find out they exist and are eval.

Some would, but people are stupid. Sure, you'd get an influx in the underground over there of wannabe goths, but would it be beneficial overall? No.

Worth fucking up the USBM underground? No. If you want rants, there are plenty on other subjects available.

I don't care about the USBM underground scene. Don't you think the churchburnings in Norway gave us a ton of good metal?

True, but it served to start off a scene. The music modern BM bands are putting out surpasses the older stuff in some ways. We don't need more burnings, there's already a perfectly good scene in the US. Trying to start the thing all over again will mess it up completely.

Start off a scene? No way, black metal was going on in lots of other countries as well, it wasn't even invented in Norway. What band will get the blame for the burnings? BURZUM of course! And what do you get when people make music inspired by Burzum? Good music I tell you! The most interesting thing would be that bands not playing metal at all might use this influence as well. It's definitely not going to hurt!

Norway made it what it is today. If Germany can ban Cannibal Corpse because of the gore, America can ban BM because it's pure, aural evil. I think it will hurt, whenever BM goes mainsteam the results generally aren't pretty. It is much better underground, and Pat Robertson making speeches about it will not help it in any shape or form.

If the guy who did this claims any sort of Bm influence, or has any BM when he gets caught, there will be the flurries of lies in the media that there always is.

For it to go out on the news it will make some serious shit for those of us who wear our musical tastes on our sleeves ( or front of t-shirt for that matter.) The scene would be filled with americans going for the evil value with absolutely no musical talent. We already have plenty of clone bands doing this. For the media to go after black metal in connection would be very detrimental.

I don't beleive though that this is BM related, although it would be interesting ot see some sort of anti-christian bm rage.

Most likely its just arsonist that are going for churches because of political reasons, or the feeling of pride for burning a stucture that would greatly offend people.

What motive do they have? These guys are obviously complete morons. Upper middle class kids rebelling against their boring upper middle class lives? I wonder if they were pissed?

Sounds a little light on motive to me.. how is burning half a dozen churches a 'joke'? I bet they are just saying that to get off easy.
