I have to agree with Pyroman, this has been one of the more entertaining reviews to read. It is good to see some reviewers making a real effort. Appreciated!!

I have been very critical of In Flames in the last few years but i have to admit that this new album is excellent.I don't know if it's worth 95/100 but it's enjoyable so i will give it a solid 80.

I am going to see them next week (20th more precicely) at the Capitole in Quebec. :).Saw them once before that at the Medley in Montreal and it was a good show.

not as good as In Flames fanboys pretend it to be (I think STYE was better) but not as bad as the other say...

65/100 (after 5 spins)

NP
Baptiste Trotignon "Solo II"

Amazing album, but not 95, maybe 90-92. This is the kind of album that the more you listen to it, the more you like it. Greeeat Review jason.

I can't believe how popular this stuff is. I became a big fan of In Flames around the time when Colony came out and now I have even have trouble listening to that album. I have heard every album since, and I have no desire to listen to any of them ever again. 30/100 for me, a couple decent riffs and tracks at the beginning of the album. I guess I'm just one of those close-minded black metal people that everyone loves to hate.

Just wondering... the flame war =In Flames Come Clarity= has been on the forum since the album leaked, but disregarding this you just bitch or praise it to heaven...the REAL issue here is THE FUCK***(hehe) review... IT IS THE BEST REVIEW OF ALL TIMES this one deserves 95+, as for In flames a solid 80 (you have to have room for ZE REAL CLASSICZ TJR,WHORACLE,LUNAR STRAIN,heck even Colony &Clayman beat this one,if only for the solos)

Excellent Review, funny, descriptive, well written TWO THUMBS UP!

P.S. And I'm not a Jason fanboy, you perverts!!

Had we not argued this issue to death already, this thread would have been 87 pages long by now! Hahaha. We're all "flamed out" on the issue of Come Clarity.

Some people have no idea how to rate an album. "Ok, this is surely not as good as old IF no solos, etc, but still good I'll give this 99/100"

Yeah that 1 point really covers all the older In Flames legacy and this is the whole difference between this one and the older ones. 1 point.

But rating an album is rating THAT album, not any legacy or previous works. This is an excellent album for what it is. If you compare to Whoracle, sure it's going to pale in comparison, but you should not compare them because they're essentially two different bands now. They've evolved, tons of the fans of old dislike the new sound, but that doesn't make the album bad by any means.

He rated this album based on this album. You are rating this album based on what they've done in the past, and of course, it doesn't compare. If you can listen to this album without thinking of the In Flames of years gone past, then it's quite good actually. But he did rate this album accordingly, in my book anyway.

I'll give it 60/100 because while its decent, 2005 saw at least 5 better melodeath albums that I can think of off the top of my head. (Mors Principium Est, Arsis, Darkane, Non-Human Level, Soilwork for those wondering...)

Great review, enjoyed reading it, but I'd give the album around 89/100.

I think what Kathy is saying is, it could be any album. I'll bet the guy he is talking about, Mr. 99/100, also rated his favorite album Slaughter of the Soul (lets say this is his all time favorite album) a 99/100. So is this also your favorite album of all time since it has the same score? Get what I mean? Kind of? Maybe a little? Not even a little bit? Well, then...

Let's face it; some people don't know how to use the MR rating system. I know I was guilty (probably still am) of over quoting.

Eh, never really was a fan of In Flames (can't remember what group that puts me in). I liked Colony for a while, and I like some stuff from Jester Race. This one isn't terrible, but just doesn't do much for me.

*puts Dark Tranquillity's Character in cd changer*

Ahh, much better.

I don't know, I see it differently, I guess. Even if his favorite album of all time is a 100/100 it doesn't mean that scoring this album a 100/100 has the same impact on him. Am I missing what you're saying? When you're reviewing an album you have to try and keep it objective, sure it's your opinion, but you have to write about THIS album, the one right in front of you, so any other albums are of no consequence, really. Even if you scored them the same.
