If I really wanted anti-music I'd just listen to Merzbow's 20000 albums. Mike Patton may have more variety, but very little of what he puts out entertains me more than once or twice. I would hardly call what Patton does refreshing...

Devin b/c of 10,000,000,000.00001 reasons. I'm not listing them.

Mr Bungle is less entertaining than Strapping? You are so very, very wrong.

Far less. Bungle has brilliant MOMENTS, Strapping has brilliant MUSIC!

Bungle is sheer joy, from the samples, to the singing, everything. Strapping is alright indutrial stuff, not as plain weird as MB.

If you like disjointed nonsense then Bungle is for you.

If you like a bald man yelling, Strapping is for you.

Is that the best argument you can come up with?

No, but Bungle equals "dijointed nonsense" that occasionally hits a good spot, so I need say nothing more.

maybe check out Fantomas - Director's Cut, that's quite amazing while not being totally unconventional.

there's nothing disjointed about Mr. Bungle, their transitions and themes tend to be seamless. now if you want a song to stay in the same place for its duration then you won't like Mr. Bungle but that's not to say there hasn't been a great amount of thought put into the composition.

basically the opposite of Devin.. his songs, while simple are incredibly smooth and good at maintaining a certain moon. that just happens to bore the shit out of me. I don't find him to be a goofball or a mad scientist or anything, blah blah blah, just a good musician and songwriter.

Sorry, I find Fantomas to be quite terrible, too.

I like FNM, Tomahawk and some of what Bungle has done. I've not like anything else Patton has done, and I've given it all a listen.

I think I've proven enough here that I am quite capable of liking something as off the wall as what Patton does, I just find his definition of music to be quite nonsensical. I find structure to be the foundation to good music. Chaos for the sake of chaos does not equal music to me, it equals noise and I don't find noise to be enjoyable.

well, then let's agree to disagree...

I find nonsense to be great in music and noise works for me (especially Patton's or Zorn's noise) 8)

From what I've heard, Devin sucks and Patton doesn't. Easy.

Devin doesn't suck, he just plays easier music and, most of the times, it's good

btw, I think this whole poll is bullshit... If you wanna have a duel with Patton, the only worthy opponent in the metal world is Garm... 8)

And what you said is bullshit because neither of them is metal at all. While Devin is definitely metal and a genius at that.
