Devin doesn't suck, he just plays easier music and, most of the times, it's good

btw, I think this whole poll is bullshit... If you wanna have a duel with Patton, the only worthy opponent in the metal world is Garm... 8)

And what you said is bullshit because neither of them is metal at all. While Devin is definitely metal and a genius at that.

GARM IS NOT METAL ???

I strongly disagree, he used to be and he can return to metal any time.. plus being metal is not just about music...

Is Blood Inside metal ? I don't think so. Nattens Madrigal is metal. I'm not saying I don't like it, I like the new Ulver and Fantomas and Mr Bungle and stuff but they aren't very metal so it isn't right to say "omg they're the kings ov metal". \m/

Sorry, I find Fantomas to be quite terrible, too.

I like FNM, Tomahawk and some of what Bungle has done. I've not like anything else Patton has done, and I've given it all a listen.

for some musics you need to learn how to like it... too bad you're so lazy

I think I've proven enough here that I am quite capable of liking something as off the wall as what Patton does, I just find his definition of music to be quite nonsensical. I find structure to be the foundation to good music. Chaos for the sake of chaos does not equal music to me, it equals noise and I don't find noise to be enjoyable.

well, then let's agree to disagree...

I find nonsense to be great in music and noise works for me (especially Patton's or Zorn's noise) 8)

Fine, let's actually agree to disagree from now on so we don't have to say it again? Hahahaha.

Easy?? Far from it. Just LISTEN! The dude has so much going on it's not even funny. He did 25 vocal tracks for each song he did on The Human Equation, some songs he has close to 100 vocal tracks! Listen to "War" on Infinity, and then listen to "Morwar" on Ass-Sordid Demos 1 and tell me that shit is "easy." "Morwar," if you haven't heard it, is "War" with the guitars stripped away, there's a million things going on. Listen to "Processional" from the Christeen EP, listen to "The Death Of Music" from Ocean Machine or "Planet Rain" from Physicist. Easy, my ass! Hahaha.

Again, Devin pisses into the hole of Patton's humanity!

I personally think that Infinity is more impressive originality-wise than anything Patton has done...

Devin Townsend's music is far from easy, and he is probably one of the few musicians who can make something complex and original while also being listenable, emotional and melodic.

I don't even consider Mike Patton to really be one of the leaders of avant-guarde either but whatever (i havent heard of much outside mr.bungle, faith no more and fantomas though)

Go listen to Adult Themes In Voice for some of his brilliance. I'm going to record an album called Adult Themes In Retard: Inspired By Mike Patton.

Christ, could you stop tossing coals on the fire? It's like talking assbackwards German with a sneer and snapping off 'Sieg Heil!' salutes in front of the local Zionists Club circa 1946.

So, everyone else is allowed to continuously praise Patton, but I can't do the opposite? Double standards, tsk, tsk. Oh wait, you're a pro-Patton guy, no wonder.

Oh I've also heard Kaada & Mike Patton, that album was cool until he started doing stupid shit with his voice that totally ruined the flow of the music.

You hear anyone saying anything along the lines of:

"I made a flash cartoon in which Devin is branded with the word 'retard' on his forehead."

Do I hear a... NO? At best you could be pissed that Misha said Devin sucks, but where the crap does this retard stuff come from? Can't this board have a somewhat civil debate without resorting to childish name-calling and slogan-shouting?

Do you realize right that YOU are causing drama where there was none? This WAS a civil debate, a civil discussion with many people joking around in the same manner I did.

If you need to start a fight today please go somewhere else.

Please, name the people joking around in a similar manner. I don't see any.

It's silly and uncalled for, and you're lowering the level of discourse. For someone who professed the values of maturity to me more than once, that's rather hypocritical.
