I think Delirium Cordia is his ultimate work of what-the-fuckitude, even more so than Mr. Bungle and all his noise pieces.. I've listened to it around thirty times in different contexts and I'm coming to think that it's his masterpiece..

i'm not just saying this because I like big songs. not that I'm fooling anyone

They're right about the Bungle, some of the songs on the s/t are catchy after a few listens, like "squeeze me macaroni".

catchy not being the issue.. there's plenty of catchiness.

I agree... they're catchy bt that's not why Mr Bungle's so good... listen 5 times to their s/t and you'll find there are only coherent, delightful songs... 8)

NP
Ulver "Svidd Neger"

I didn't mean that's the only reason they're good, just answering Ken's daft point about it bein pure noise.

I don't get why you keep answering Ken when it's quite clears he thinks you're an idiot with a very bad taste in music... but, yeah, you were right but I don't think he was speaking of Mr Bungle... 8)

NP
Phenomena II "Dream Runner"
(some AOR after Ulver :? tis not bad but I can't get into that music like I did in the eighties...)

I've listened to the 2 first great bungle albums around 5 times each and I never really liked them... not even the novelty really got to me, but I was expecting them to grow on me and they didn't...

Hey! I never said they were pure noise! There is a good degree of noise in there, but like I said, they do have some brilliant moments.

Funny, I can never see why people have such a problem with noise. Even Merzbow, just relax and let it rape your brain. It's an amazing feeling.

I can't think of a single Patton record that could be described as "pure noise" except Adult Themes.

And a large amount of Mr Bungle's tracks function very cohesively as songs. Especially on the California album. I think people who doubt this should listen again. There is logic and structure there, and even some very conventional verse-chorus-verse stuff.l

Like I've said in other threads, some of his solo work is great too. Pranzo Oltranzista springs to mind- a more consistently interesting record than much of what FNM did.

I just can't get into it because I like structure. I like a groove. There's a good number of SYL songs that grate on me in certain parts because there's so much going on that it just loses me. "Oh My Fucking God" for example, an amazing tune, but there's that one part where it's just going insane and I feel that the song loses it's identity, thus me.

That's me, though, I know people are going to like wacky, crazy shit. I like Dog Fashion Disco so much because I feel like they're exactly what I'd wish Mr. Bungle would be.
