I love powerful hardcore vocals because I find them to be the most passionate way of singing harshly. Grunts and deep screams are good when mixed with other styles for me otherwise they get a bit repetitive (though the same can be said for a lot of hardcore vocals lately)

Anyway:

Tim Williams (Vision of disorder, Bloodsimple) has the most amazingly gritty scream.
Daryl Palumbo (Glassjaw) doesn't really scream anymore, but when he did it sounded like he was dying or in pain. Angsty? Perhaps, but it's pure emotion.
Jeff Walker's (carcass) raspy rasp is particulary satisfying.
John Henry's (Darkest Hour) attitude drenched vocals.
Dallas Taylor's (ex-underoath, marylene and sons of disaster) Black metalcore shrieks were amazing before he left and underoath became just another shitty scenecore band.
Mike Patton pretty much owns any vocal style...
Sebastian Bach (skid row) always had the most awesome actual scream!

I like pretty much all styles. Faves include:

Ihsahn.
Thingy from Enslaved.
Barney, and Lee Dorian when he was in ND. 8)
Any burpy/ very low GG-style, very nice.

Lord Worm sounds pretty much inhuman. It's awesome.

Nergal does pretty much the same.

Gaahl has some pretty awesome shreiks too.

I also like Randy Blythe's vocals.

But it's his vocals you're commenting on, and the vocals are equally good for both bands, so...

I like Glenn's vox from VR, in the same way I like Ihsahn's vocals from Emperor, ignoring whatever other bands the big screamers might have been in. Geddit?
