Why do I feel like I've read this before ? Seriously, this sounds oddly familiar.

Anyway, welcome back brother. :D

Hey!! A review of L'élu du Mal! I didn't notice this before now.. And a great review by the way.. This is easily one of my favorites of this year. The riffs are truly raw hate and bitter sadness distilled and the atmosphere is great.. The only complaint I can come up with is that personally I would have liked it even better if the vocals were buried a bit deeper in the mix. Don't get me wrong. The vocals are good, but I think the music would shine even more if they were a little less dominant.. Extremely well executed raw black metal.

I'll score this one 80%. It is definately borderline 90%, but don't forget 80% means outstanding.

This album is an excellent example that innovation is not everything. Even though this is plain raw black metal (with a few interludes) it is so well crafted that it stands out as one of the greatest albums of this year.

85% it is..

Yes, I've indeed already posted this review on the forums once, but I figured I shouldn't throw them away...

Where'd that cover go? Was it not the correct album cover?

Eisenfaust made a good point in his original comments, I loved the riffs but would have preferred the vocals a bit lower in the mix. 83/100

I found this album to be too raw at first but somehow it was easier to get into than most albums with similar production values. It was probably the amazing riffs that made it so easy.

Totally agree with your pick of killing songs.. Mephisto and the Sorceror is just ridiculously good.

Also: good to have you back Misha!

This is a strong candidate for the best review ever on MR.
Never heard Bekhira though, since I like Mutiilation and Belenos I think I'm going to look for them.

Possibly because the lp is sold out and the cd is likely to be soon too.

Because the LP is of lesser quality than the CD, and because the extra track is nothing to write home about...

three things:
1: there is nothing wrong with the quality of my LP
2: Black metal is not worth writing home about - parents don't care
3: You live home at your parents, Mies!

btw.. the lp version isn't sold out yet, it's just hard to find :D i have seen it several times at a certain distro, but i can't remember which.

1: It's of lesser quality than the MP3's I have.
2: My dad listens to Darkestrah
3: I tend to send letters addressed to myself to make it appear I have friends that send me letters
