HOw was Battalions of Fear Disastrous??? Blind Guardian is one of the only bands to have never put out a bad album. While ANATO isnt my favorite album, and I dont like the direction they went with it...its by no means a bad album. And neither is Battalions or Follow the BLind, they were just thrashier. Sorry those two albums didnt have a million layered choruses or songs plucked straight out of the middle ages. Grow some balls and stop massaging your vagina with thousands upon thousands of layered vocal choirs.

I just listened to Follow The Blind today, and aside from the retarded "Barbara Ann" cover the CD is excellent!

Yep, one of my favorites.

I find the single to be totally mainstream and very weak compared to their older material. Stauch needs to come back and bring his flavor into this stuff, Savage Circus has becone the the new "old" BG, the one everyone loved. They should stop being so pretentious and go back to writing kick-ass metal tunes like they used to. I'm tired of all the pomposity and over-production, I want metal not cheese...

First off, let's not be fooled here, had technology been the same back in the day BG would have sounded then like they do today.

The short answer: It wasn't. In fact, it kicked a lot of ass.

As for me, I am enjoying this Fly single very much. The title track is definitely the highlight for me; very well executed. I haven't really gotten into Skalds and Shadows, and the Iron Butterfly cover is very good. Overall, a success.

Lol, i was waiting for this like you wouldn't believe when I read someobody dissed Battalions. Holy Terror, you will be more then happy to know I totally agree with you and Blind Gaurdian fucked themselves into some 2nd rate Rhapsody (who suck) cover band.

You know what, fuck Technology and fuck what Blind Guardian are doing to their sound now. I like my share of fag power metal at times, but you have to draw the line somewhere, at least do it fucking honest like Masterplan and Sonata Arctica, don't hide lazy song writing and lack of ideas behind "technology". BG used to be a damn good pure Trad speed Metal band, now they sound just like those horrible hollywood metal Italian bands which I hate.

Man I hate this new style, apologetic, open minded to everything Metal head of today.

Goddamn, you act as if A Night At The Opera was something new for the band. So you haven't liked the band since the early 90's—which is when they began to abandon that all out speed/thrash sound. Why are you still discussing them and getting upset? It amazes me that people spend so much time being disappointed that bands don't play what they want them to play!

Blind Guardian started playing this sort of stuff back in 1992—maybe earlier—on Somewhere Far Beyond. I don't own Tales From The Twilight World so I can't comment on that. Sure, it wasn't all symphonic metal back then, but it was there. It was in full effect on Nightfall In Middle Earth! At the end of the day t's been 14 FUCKING YEARS, at least, since they began incorporating this newer style into their music and at least 8 FUCKING YEARS since the speed/thrash stuff disappeared!

It's time to move on, guys. She's not coming back.

Well, for me the peak of their music was Imaginations From The Other Side. The perfect match between the first raw production of the first times and the actual overproduction, that's is very good, but it's not my style... And I know they doesn't return to that point, and is their decission, and is what they want. Simply, if I don't like their next (or the next, or the next) I'll stop in that point and simply listen to the old stuff.

They've definately run out of ideas, so why not layer the vocals and have a 1000 man chorus section. The guitars arent even cool anymore either. They're totally bland, and the same leads are played the same way....oh fuck it, I never thought this would happen. But I've finally grown tired of Blind Guardian.....at least the current Blind Guardian.

IT'S ONE FUCKING SONG! Damn. Not only that, everything that you say "Fly" is...IT'S NOT!
