Listening to Innocent Man, it's actually not half bad, it just feels thin and recycled. The vocals are indeed pretty weak, and the screaming is pretty bad too.

However, I do have to agree with what you said: This has potential written all over it.

EDIT: Now listening to Intro, and, yeah, this is pretty bad. Screams Mallcore at me from every angle, and the vocals went from mediocre to just plain bad. Still shows potential in some places.

Exactly. Potential is the band's saving grace, otherwise I would have written them off. I take into account that they're a young band in every aspect. In time, hopefully, improvements will be made.

Its not that bad, nor that good. Needs a decent singer. Its allright for high school kids though.

Isn't nu-metal alternative enough?

I classify alternative as bands like Sponge, 3 Doors Down, etc., not nu-metal at all.

Yes I understand, but isn't nu-metal already an alternative genre?
I mean like grunge or alt-rock....

An alternative to what? Is metal then an alternative genre to rock? Alternative rock is essentially a genre, don't take the word so literal.

metal is a subset of rock and thus not an alternative genre.

I wouldn't say nu-metal was an alternative to rock though, firstly because it's a perversion of rock and secondly because an alternative should be something that you go look for, not what's offered to you. Alt-rock isn't really an alternative either, but maybe noise and post-rock are.

I have this same problem with what's currently called progressive metal. fucking misnomer from space.

Was this in response to me? I know this, sonny! =) And yes, "progressive" by today's standard is hardly progressive.
