I'm posting this just to kick it up, just so that no one forgets this dark masterpiece. This is truly a work of art, the amazing atmosphere, great musicianship and geniously written lyrics.

If you are even remotely interested in black metal and think of getting an album to start things up, get this one.

Black Metal doesn't get any better than this and after years and many listens I am confident to say: This is the best black metal album ever.

I know it's only a two song demo, but I really prefer Ofermod's Mystérion Tés Anomias to this one, and it's hard it's even more impressive that they recorded it in '98.

Si Monumentum... is a really good album though and something anyone interested in black metal should check out. I like Funeral Mist too.

After a few more listens, I've decided that this album is, in fact, perfect in every sense of the word. And so I'll give it what it rightfully deserves: a perfect score of 100/100. I honestly cannot think of a Black Metal album that's any better than this, not at all, and I cannot in good conscience give it any less than a perfect score.

It's unbelievable. This album is right up there with Images And Words, the best album by my favorite band ever... I'm still in shock.

I disagree, it's great, but certainly not the best ever.

I have read that some believe this to be the greatest black metal album ever pressed. I agree, and if I may I'd like to take this accolade a step further; the greatest album of all time. Nay, the very pinnacle of achievement of all humanity's strife and inspiration and surely the event that will prove our artistic, spiritual and philosophical worth on a universal scale. Soon shall we be embraced by the gods of the heavens, my brethren; Deathspell Omega shall stand in the sublime queue before the classical greats - Jesus will bear his cross and kneel in reverence to these majestic poets, and the many-tiered pantheon of the gods will maintain a hushed silence for the first time in their extraordinary history. Chuck Norris will have combed his beard out of respect.

Now come, my friends, let us board their vast dreadnaught and travel to the stars, and in so doing shall we present a living memorial to Satan, true creator of the alpha and omega! The render of firmament! Thee Carnal Malefactor without whose reckoning we would not be fit to bear the burden of the merest gust of wind.. and yet shall Deathspell Omega stand greater still, chanting their words of timeless wisdom, rewriting their heathen commandments with ones of true freedom. Heed their call for once they are gone, should even immortals expire, then shall we be damned to live in intellectual poverty and the debauchery of mean talent. FOR NOW LET US HAIL SATANIC BLACK METAL!

79/100

ah hahaha, it's not a bash on black metal fans. I like black metal (np Beherit - Drawing Down the Moon) and all I was doing was poking a little fun at people declaring a relatively young album to be its pinnacle.

I figured as much, bm has just been a bit of a whipping boy lately on the forums. I agreed with you on the album.

Do we have to wait 10 years for declaring our favourite albums ?
