I can't believe Kathaarian isn't getting any votes.. Eyesore's piece is pretty trite to me (which is a shame because I liked his previous stuff) and just the fact that it reads like RAP should be enough to tip the balance to Kathaarian's actually rousing poem.

but then, I can't vote

Theres a Belgian conspiracy going on here.

well i WAS thinking of voting for you but now..

Go ahead. Everybody voted against me for stupid reasons (except a few), why not you ? I was joking, you should have got that because this has nothing to do with Belgium or someone from there but go ahead, vote for him, I couldn't care less, I've lost already.

actually, i don't want to vote as i see that people vote for the other guy because of bad spelling and sortlike shite, it's easy for you to say if English is your mother language, isn't it? and don't give me that spellchecker crap because it has it's failures as well, and it aren't little ones. this is actually the fundamental flaw of this tourney, it was certain from the beginning it would turn out to be a final with two english speaking persons. Yeah, the ones who don't have english as a mother language, were brilliant as well, but in the end, did it matter? No!

I think this falls under the category of "life ain't fair."

Uhm... I think the last tourney contradicts that.

That was the last vote. 10 outta 12, and 2 people are basically MIA.

Eyesore wins. The first FINALIST~! Congrats, dude. You made it. You really are a pro. : P

Kathy, no worries, you can have one more match if you want. 3rd place match, if you and the next loser want it. For fun. No prize. Otherwise, thanks for coming out, and kicking some major ass. Your material was great, and remember what you said back when? I remember your humble approach to the tournament. You were sure you'd do horrible. But, all considering, you had one hell of a go~! So, lemme know what you wanna do.

Thanks a lot dude^ (and lol at your sig, that was the best review ever).

I'd like to thank everyone who did and didn't vote for me and thanks for all the criticism because it made me better. Congrats to Ken.

And I'm all for a 3rd place match. Could be fun, maybe I'll write a little less seriously and more funny.

Hahaha. Here is the poem I thought about re-writing. Obviously it was written as a result of 9/11, I think everyone that writes wrote something then. I wrote it because I was so irritated by all the trendy Patriotism going on with the magnetic ribbons and the flags and whatnot, so annoying.

I think if I made it more relevant to today's political climate it could be cool, but I'm not political so I have no desire to finish it really. It was just scrawled in a notebook, that's usually how stuff begins, I just let it flow so some things come out a bit vapid. Then I'll go back and re-work things if I think it has potential. Anyway, here it is:

WHEREVER THE PLANES LAND

I sat and watched
it burn
Counted
as the they fell
Did anyone care?
Sort of
Not really

Then, the obligatory flags are raised
so enormous they eclipse
the sun from the earth
And the parades march on
filled with joyous laughter
and satisfaction
that you were part of something, and
though you drape yourself
in that flag
and wallpaper your car with
“God Bless America” bumper stickers
that were made in Japan

You have forgotten

As red, white, and blue
is the color of the day
and American blood
is the flavor of the week
You have reduced it all
to a popularity contest: “We’ve got to fit in!”

And now those flags
won’t allow you to set sail
because the wind has
battered holes through them—
the fabric of your Ode to Freedom
is worn and dirtied by neglect
Neglect
Your bumper stickers are cracked
and peeling
Your t-shirt, faded

Because you have forgotten

And now more parades march on
Those flags now burn in your hands
Anger fuels a war...on war?
Anti-violence brings violence:
No tears, just tear gas

“We’ve got to fit in—burn the White House!
Fly a plane into it!”

We the People! The hypocrites!

And those who still fly
their tattered, faded
and forgotten flag
call a TV show contestant
their “Freedom Fighter” as he sings
into the camera
while the only sand between his toes
is from a beach in California
No tanks, just tank tops

Welcome to America
the land where everything is convenient—
except memories
They sell out quick and
the backorders are never filled and
though you’ve paid for them
you simply forget

Stand proud and wave your dirty flag—
or burn it
Wherever the planes land

EDIT: The "TV show contestant" line is about that Marine from American Idol that people kept calling a "freedom fighter." Man, that fucking irked me. Here I was with friends actually over in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting a real war while this asshole is up in Hollywood livin' it up and he's a freedom fighter? WTF? Fuck that and fuck you. Americans are so stupid some times.

Well, you're thinking about american writers... Rest of the world writers, some wrote and some not. Rwanda writers prefer to write about another things, I'm sure.

Well... everybody is stupid sometimes, and americans are not the exception, not the norm. Bush is the exception, for example... he's always stupid :)

I wrote a Haiku about how the people diving from the towers to their death. I called it "The Best Adrenaline Rush Money Can't Buy." I then hung a mini-American Flag from my car antenna and covered my car in "God Bless America" magnets, that cost $4 a piece. Money well spent to honor those people I never knew. I then vowed to Never Forget. Wait, what was I talking about again?

AGHH YES EXACTLY! That shit is still going on to this day, fucking soccer moms in their Escalades waving American flags all over the place and the mandatory "support or troops" bullcrap to go with it. I am all for loving your country, but none of these people have a patriotic bone in their body, only the ability to display propoganda when the television says it's a good idea.

fuck off
