A couple days ago I had a run-in with a Disturbed fan. I go to school quite a distance from my house so rather than use up ridiculous amounts of gas driving I take the little short bus almost every day. So we're stuck in trafic and I'm in the back of the bus and a truck comes up behind us and written in stickers it says "DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS - DISTURBED." Now normally, I don't like to be the elitist death to posers metaller-than-thou type, but I was extremely bored and felt like being an asshole, so I took out my notebook, wrote "Disturbed sucks, listen to real metal," and held it against the back window. So it flipped me off (we couldn't determine its gender). So I grabbed Maiden's Killer's out of my backback, held it against the window, and gave the horns, but I don't think he could see it, so then I held the case of my Spinal Tap DVD up. He gave an affirming nod, reached off to the side, and held his Korn CD against his windshield. I grimaced in disapproval, and followed up with Queensryche. He gave one of those "kinda-sorta okay" hand gestures.

But anyway. It was amusing, maybe you'd have to have been there, but what's really funny is what struck me after we drove away. I ride the short bus. He might have thought he was being told his music sucks by a retarted kid.

I'd imagine it would in the southern half of the country, which goes as far down as some of Scotland at least - and we get hot weather in the summer here (sometimes).

Well shut me up - having a quick look at Google Earth reveals that Finland does not in fact go that far south (shock horror), but its not far off.

I'll bet it gets hot as hell in Turkey. I don't mean to come off as ignorant to residents from Scotland and Finland, but North Euros I have known personally always talk about how blasted hot it is here in the USA. Personally I hate the damn heat and I am dreading another awful summer like in 2005.

Fucking hell the U.S. gets roasted like a motherfucker. I think god is trying to kill us or something. Last year downtown Denver hit a record 105 degrees (fahrenheit) That's global warming for ya! I am in a delivery truck for about 9 to 10 hours a day in the city so I get cooked like a bastard. (my truck has no AC) But I am sure it's even worse in Turkey and in the Middle East. Why else would those people all be so pissed off all the time? It's hot as fuck and all the women are covered up.

And I know you probably weren't referring to Turkey but most woman here aren't covered up, thats maybe like %15 of the population. It's just that some American people I know somehow got the impression that we're a middle eastern arabic country swarming with towelheads, that's completely absurd. In fact, turbans have been frobidden here since 1923, but due to our fucking hypocrite government they have resurfaced but that makes a small part of the people, like I said.

Yeah, look, "some Americans I know" doesn't include anyone on this site, I know you're better than that. But believe me some people do think that way. Remember 24 ? 4th season 1st episode ? Turkish Islamic Terrorists bomb a train and kidnap the Secretary of defense. They speak Arabic, they're palyed by Iranian actors, they have names like Dina, Behruz, Navi which are arabic names and so on... Clearly somebody wanted to give this impression, could the producers be this ignorant ? I doubt it. And some people actually believed this bullshit and see us as an Arabic country.
