Canada is big on fines. I live Edmonton which issues the most photo radar speeding tickets of any major city in the world. The tickets run into the hundreds of dollars, depending on how fast you go.
In Calgary, fans of the local hockey team have been warned that fines will be issued to those who honk their horns in salute to their team during the playoffs. It's starting to resemble the ticketing system in the movie Judge Dredd.
Oh well, at least our murder rate is impressive. I think Calgary had something like 15 murders last year, which is pretty impressive for a city of about a million people.
