Btw, this should appeal to people liking Agalloch, Of The Wand And The Moon, and even Katai Tamas. Check out the samples.

Yep, this is a good record, although I haven't listened all the way through yet.

I also remember Terrorizer doing a very big feature on "neo-folk" a couple of months back, so maybe it's not such a strange thing to review on a metal site after all...

The music is great but the vocals didn't really do it for me.

Check out what he released under his own name then, Intimate & Obstinate for example. It's instrumental and slightly more complex, yet still very much the same idea.

Sounds intriguing.. I'll check the samples when I get home. My computer here at work has no speakers.

Get out of my thread! I'm not trying to start a flamewar. Misha can review whatever he pleases. I think he's pushing the envelope a bit ( ), but I'm not one to judge his musical taste or his desire to review albums like this. I listen to rap for fuck's sake! Hahaha.

I'm just saying that I got all kinds of shit for reviewing some nu-metal albums, and those same people that gave me shit have praised Misha to no end for his reviews. Me smells some bias. No matter, I'll also review whatever I want, I just won't stray as far from metal as Misha. Again, no big deal, this isn't my website and I do enjoy his reviews.

Speaking of which, I found this review to be extremely short and rather thin in the meat department considering it's a double album over 2 hours long with 27 songs. Why for, yo?

Eyesore, there is indeed a bias, but it's not for me and you, it's for the nu-metal. Metalheads just have a problem with it, more than genres outside metal. What you review is metal, yet closer to commercialism and pop, what I review is just different music. It's an unjust bias indeed, but it's also a logical explaination. Do continue with your reviews though!

I found myself bored my most reviews that were extremely long and very detailed, that's why I tried to capture the general idea in lesser words. It's your opinion if I didn't succeeded. You should know what I mean judging from your first entry in the lyrics-contest, that was twenty-word poem against a few pages of lyrics, but did you lose that?

It's not that I'm not open to critism, I am very. I'm just giving an explaination for the points you've made. I've reviewed the first CD by the way, the second is just his previous album including a few bonus tracks.

I like shorter reviews that are to the point. Longer ones bore me.

That's fine. Like I said, I enjoyed the review. Did I miss the part about the second CD, though? I just saw the amount of music there and felt that more could have been expanded upon, or rather, I would have liked to read more, I guess. No big deal, we're all different reviewers and have our own styles. Sometimes I wish Dee would stop being so poetic! Hahaha. Sometimes I have to re-read a line like 5 times to grasp whether he's saying something good about the CD or not, but it's always very well written so it's no big deal.

To be fair, I agree with you. Much as I hate bands like Korn and such, they, alas, have much more place on this site than chamber music, or Trans-Siberian neo-folk pop no matter how good it may be.

Thanks Stuart (if that is your name), good to have more open-minds on board. To be honest, I've not heard that album, only read about it. It seems more basic that this album, because of the large guestlist that is present here. You can read Howden's own opinion on www.matthowden.com he wrote lots of his own views and explainations on his albums down on that site.

There does seem to be more to this album then OSC. Both the samples and howdens own word confirm it for me that i need to get this album! I had no idea this had been released so thanks for doing this review! (and yes my name is Stu)

EDIT I nearly forgot to ask, would you be able to help me find band that combines traditional folk with the atmosphere of neofolk? I've been searching for the last few months now for a band like this and i can't find anything! Thanks
