On the massively unlikely odds of the universe forming by itself, here's a short story to counterattack (is that the word?) this argument.
Suppose a Lottery ticket is given to every being in the universe, and I happen to win. There's no reason to assume the lottery was rigged in my favour now, is there?
I see what you're saying. The universe just happened to end up the way it has. It had to end up someway, and there's no reason to assume that the way it has is so special.
For example. If I draw a random number from between 1 and 999,999,999, and it happens to be 645, 309, 456, the odds that it would be that number were very unlikely (1 in 999,999,999), but there is nothing exceptional nor odd that it ended up that number.
The only way that would make it exceptional is if I predicted that it would be 645, 309, 456, and it was.
People seem to be stuck in the mindset of the latter example. They see their world, assume it's so great, and expect that this must be the ultimate way it could have turned out. Thus, the odds that it would turn out in such a splended way were really, really low. This is a bad mindset to be in. Our world has its fair share of problems. In truth, the first example is a much better one: a random number was drawn and it just happened to be this one.
i'm still with Jaden on this one...
i'm not quite sure what Mintrude means... if you mean there's unlikely odds of the univers forming itself after the big bang, then wtf?!?!?!... but if you're questioning what triggered the big bang, then " hmm.. good question"
i don't believe planet earth is all that speciel either. There are millions of terrestial planets out there.. we already found one with crappy technology... NASA is planning to build a big motherfucker telescope.. don't think just because we live in the modern world that we have peaked in technology to discover earthlike planets.. we may know more than we did 50 years ago, but we haven't found out all the things there is to know yet. You could have been born on one planet or another.. if you were intelligent enough you would start reflect upon your own existence as well... the lottery example is good example. Are u speciel?!? no, just one lucky motherfucker
and oh!.. while we all at it.. why don't we all start questioning ourselves/ each other why we were born by our parents and not by a lion or a poor family down in africa.
and to ppl who question scientific theories... why don't u become scientists since you all appearently the smartest ppl alive, ha ha 8) u may know the theories, but u don't know the science behind them, do ya?
