Well is true, the album is growing on me, with each listen but it is not the best tool in my opinion, so given at least five listen before making judgment.

First impression is that this album isn't close to Lateralus in terms of consistent quality. Intension, Lost Keys, Viginti Tres, the throwaway Lipan Conjuring, and parts of Rosetta Stoned are black holes. It is funny that people called this album "their heaviest", nothing could be further from the truth. Noodles was spot on in comparing the title track to Neurosis, it strongly reminded me of something from A Sun that Never Sets or Eye of Every Storm. The title track and the other part of my wings are very strong tracks, in fact the first five tracks are all good. The problem is that Right in Two is the only other good track. After Lateralus I began comparing them to King Crimson, Pink Floyd, and other prog acts from years past, but considering the age of the band members and their infrequent albums I'm beginning to doubt they will ever leave a legacy approaching those bands.

Now where was I?.. Oh yeah, TOOL!.. I'm not going to reveal my source, Mister Patience, but do you want to know the kind of things that have been going on while this record was being recorded? Okay, first there was the decoy record just to confound all those would-be bootleggers out there. This took, oh, about a year, just because the band members wanted it to sound pretty close to the real thing (so as to be believable), along with equally believable art design.

So is 10,000 days the real deal? :)

i Hope for this to be true, if you look at the art, they could come up wtih something better, is alot like the art for lateralus, but im just blinded by the need for a album that give me some orgmasms like lateralus.

i think its half of a double album

it seems like its true, I mean Tool wouldn't take 5 years and have a song like "The Pot" on it. Not to mention a lot of it sounds like self-parody (The last song + Intension + Rosetta Stoned come to mind)

EITHER WAY THIS MEANS I GET 2 TOOL ALBUMS THIS YEAR

i'm so happy

I wouldn't put it past Tool to release a decoy album. This one is rather mediocre and treads all over the beaten path. It's likely not true, but I wouldn't rule it out.

I actually hope it is a decoy. I'd hate to think that Keenan was letting his newfound love of Jesus creep into his music (if you listen to "10,000 Days (Wings Part 2)" he mentions summoning the Father, Son and Spirit and informing them that this pillar of faith is ascending). Perhaps it's a little hypocritical to find Satanic or pagan lyrics perfectly acceptable, but I'm one of those people that just can't stand Christian metal.

meh, as long as he doesnt go "PRAISE GOD" or the like i'm fine. He also talks about prophetic anal sex on the album/fake too so i wouldnt take his lyrics too seriously

that song is fucking great too.

Well, these are the bits I can catch from "10,000 Days (Wings Part 2)":
What are they going to do when the lights go down
Without you to guide them all to Zion?
What are they going to do when the rivers overrun
Other than tremble incessantly?
[can't catch it]
You are the light and the [something] they only read about
I only pray, Heaven knows what [something]
Ten thousand days in the fire is long enough
You're going home....

You're the only one who can hold your head up high
Shake your fist at the gates, saying
"I've come home now!"
Fetch me the Spirit, the Son and the Father
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.
It's time now, my time now
Give me my, give me my wings!

Maybe I'm ascribing too much to it, but it sounds rather Christian to me.

[Edit] - Just go ahead and skip this post, didn't notice the below was already pointed out.

Apparently this was in a tool newsletter:

"Now where was I?.. When they weren't working on this grand deception.."

So do we believe this or not? Seems like a pretty drastic joke. I can only hope there is a better album on the way; I don't want to wait 4 years to get this bad taste out of my mouth.

my friend says that isis's bassist told here they wrote an 18 minute and a 20 minute long song, which are definitely not on the leak (unless they did some pretty extreme editing of some pretty crappy songs). so i think it isn't real. I hope its not just so I get 2 albums of Tool this year :D
