I think I have a song by these guys on a compilation DVD - it was either them or another Nevermore soundalike. The vocalist was certainly attempting to channel Warrell (and doing an admirable job of it).

I've heard good things about these guys and this particular album, especially the Nevermore comparison. I don't care if they are a copy/paste band as long as they kick ass like Nevermore. Hope they have samples on their site.

I actually don't think the Nevermore comparison fits, especially vocally. Musically I can see a slight comparison, but I think they're far too groovy to be compared the Nevermore and the vocalist sounds a lot like a rock vocalist to me, not metal, sometimes he even sounds like Geoff Tate. He's left the band, though.

From Threshold Of Revolution (2006):

CRITICAL ELEMENTS
INNER CORE
LOYAL and COME ALIVE (Clips, two songs)

From Summoning (2003):

DESIRE BRINGS
ORPHEUS

Great band, though, very appropriate score.

Are you nuts? They're incredibly similar. They're not exactly the same; Twelfth Gate isn't a Nevermore clone, but they're the same style, the same "genre," so to speak. I also don't see how you don't find Huffman and Dane's vocals similar.

I don't know, I'm a huge Nevermore fan and I really dig this band, have so since Summoning, I just don't hear it. Like I said, musically I can see a slight comparison, but not vocally. Not at all, even more so with this album as he sounds even more like a rock vocalist. When I hear him sing on this album, I hear the new singer for Ditchwater. Compare...

This strongly reminds me of another Nevermore influenced band, Communic. The sound is closer to that of Communic and the vocalists sounds alike, although they both sound like a weaker version of Warrel. Communic have a more progressive sound than Twelfth Gate and that album took months to grow on me. The clips from both TG albums didn't impress much, but I won't throw them out so quickly.

Btw, thanks for the clips Kenny. :)

PS. For those who don't know yet the new Communic album is released next month. On the 19th to be exact.

You're officially nuts. Huffman doesn't sound anything like this guy.

Hahaha. That's what I heard, or at least that rock sound. I don't hear Warrell Dane.

Here is a demo MP3 of Huffman's new band, Mindwarp Chamber.

TWILIGHT EXIT

Sounds excellent! Far more progressive than Twelfth Gate.
