I think the singer is overrated, he doesn't sound nearly as good as Hansi did at the TFtTW-SFB-era, to me Jens' voice feels more raspy and sometimes when screaming he strikes me as hoarse.

This is one of my favorite albums of the year so far. I haven't enjoyed to much this year, at least not as much as compared with the last 2 years. Anyways, this album definately sticks out for me as being top 5 of the year material.

Is this yet another, Masterplan/Helloween, Shaaman/Angra-type situation?

We can always hope for another Shaman/Angra, as both those bands ended up much better than when the original band split (album: fireworks). I don't know if Savage Circus has anything interesting to offer though, they don't have any unique "personality" like BG, but sounds more like they're playing ordinary run-of-the-mill heavy/power-metal songs blind-guardian-style.

...of course, this is after all their debut album and BG didn't sound all that special on their debut album either.

I like BG but this I don't know.It sounds so like BG if you were to stick a BG CD in a CD changer and this CD in the same changer, listened to both you could have sworn it was 2 Blind Guardian CD's

I don't mind a band being influenced by another or even ex members starting something similar but this is just to clonish for my tastes.

.

I don't get why everyone has a problem with this. Thomen Stauch was in Blind Guardian for 20 years. Obviously his new band is going to sound like BG at some point in their career, especially since it seems he quit BG because he didn't like that they were moving further and further away from speed metal.

I had a brief chance of listening to the tracks on the website and the songs did seem to be good. I might be giving a better listen to the record as soon as it arrives around here. But I didn't think the singer sounded like hansi at all. I've been listening to BG for over 12 years, and a record that reminds their old stuff is always a nice thing :) . But I really want to hear their next stuff - hope it's heavier and darker than the last, which is an awesome record.

So, I just finished my first listen of this album. Goddamn! This is like a lost Blind Guardian album. I'm not going to complain about the fact that the band does sound like Blind Guardian, even the singer is VERY close to Hansi. I've always maintained that when it comes to music good is good, great is great, and so on. The music is what matters, not the circumstances. This is a great fucking album any way you listen to it!

You should check out Persuader. It has a few of the same members (including the singer).

...and Dark Empire for that matter.

Savage Circus never did it for me. Always thought it was too generic, but after hearing Jens in Dark Empire i'm thinking of giving this another chance.

I don't care what anyone says, I've been listening to this CD like crazy and it's excellent from start to finish.
