I just listened to some tracks on their site and Aleksie was right about the vocals not being to everyones taste. I couldn't stand them, shame because theres a lot of potential in the music too.

The vocalist is the biggest hurdle this disc has. Unfortunately because of Dime's murder, this album is thrust further into the spotlight than I think it was ever intended, but now the man is a fallen legend and that'll happen. Still, give the album a few spins and his vocals start to sound like they fit, like they belong. Eventually it works itself out and the album is very enjoyable, just a party album! Good stuff, but it takes some work to get into, I think, which is not something most people are willing to do.

I happen to like David Allen Coe. That's real country music, not crap like Shania Twain. I've been waiting for what seems like forever for this album to see the light of day. Poor Vinnie, he said he no longer has the will to make music without Dimebag. The music world not only lost a great guitarist, but an awesome drummer as well. :(

Yeah, definitely sad. I mean, they'd been playing together since their early teens. You can't replace that.

Its pretty ironic, but i've been working at a country bar for about a year and some now and the music and people aggrivate me immensly. The ironic part is that 'm fully in accord with Aleksie because this album is damn well done. Groovy as hell and good synthesis of country and Metal ... Zakk Wylde should take notes.

lol.. i just never really thought the his music was that amazing; way too "dirty southern" for my taste. This has little more color and actually reminds me of Lynrd Skynyrd somewhat.

I have a soft spot for Zakk. He's not always directly on the mark, but I'd rather get new music every year or so from an artist/band that may have a few turds floating in the bowl than wait 3 or 4 years like we have to with most bands.

I didn't know squat about this album until I read this review. Checked out the song samples on the site, liked what I heard, found the torrent and VIOLA! I am having a blast with this album! I'm on my second listen in a row and I really like what I'm hearing. I'm not a big fan of country vocals, but I think it's closer to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet than it is to anything country.

This was probably intended to be a fun album to listen to when they recorded it. It is that. FUN.

Ranks right up there with the Jorn Lande and Russell Allen solo albums of recent. Great party music for sure. I'll give it a solid 85 right off the bat. Could easily move up to a 90 though, if it still holds it's fun on listen #10+. I expect it will, because Dimebag writes some really great riffs on this, and you even get a tantalizing taste of his solos here and there.

Dime was truly an amazing guitarist! Don't let the youngins try and tell you otherwise! Hehe. Have you ever heard Pantera's early albums? Check out the song "Over And Out," the riffs on the song are some of the best I've ever heard. I really hope Vinnie re-releases those albums properly at some point.

As for this album, it's definitely a fun album! You can just tell that the band's intention was simply that. It translates perfectly. Nothing pretentious about it.

He did have amazing talent. No doubt. My only criticism of Dime is he never ventured very far out of his "box of comfort" in metal. Rebel proves he had the vision to write great music outside what he was known for. Too bad he never got the chance to showcase it.

His death was a senseless travesty. Like many others before him.

Well, he did the Tres Diablos thing, too. And, I think Pantera evolved quite a bit over time from a heavy rock band to almost death metal at points. I'm sure he would have eventually done much more.

Having come from an area where people talk with a southern twang, a place where I still have many "redneck" friends, and where I worked in a country bar, I don't have any problem with these vocals. In fact, I really enjoy Coe on this album. There is a small piece of country music that I do enjoy: that which is guitar driven and not too "hokey" or sappy. Rebel meets Rebel have done a magnificent job in blending these two genres, capturing the best aspects of each.
