I don't like him either. Chris Benoit is a god but I hate the way him and Guerorro (RIP) are all ripped on 'roids now. Benoit used to be much more pure in Japan. I am a huge Rob Van Dam fan big time Sabu as well. I like Terry Funk a lot too, especially his Japanese stuff, same goes for Dr Death and others like that.

Like a lot on here though I gave it up, I used to be a huge fan but no time and the story lines are just gay anymore. Give me fucking Ric Flair or the Freebirds anyday over a lot of this new shit.

Shit! There's no fun in that.

Quote:
Hell I like Roy, a lot even when he was fighting stiffs, he did clean out Lt Heavy big time even if his comp wasn't that good.

People want to criticize Roy for not fighting people like Nunn and Darius Michelwhateverthefuck from Germany, but it's nonsense. Jones never ducked anyone. He fought his mandatories, the #1 ranked fighters and he fought tons of champs and even more FUTURE champs. He gave Tarver the chance to fight him early, but Tarver got his jaw broken by Harding so Jones fought Harding! He never Darius because Darius refused to fight outside of Germany and considering that you never win decisions in Germany (Ruiz vs. Valuev, for a perfect example) he was in the right. Not to mention one of his earliest memories is of getting robbed at the '89 Olympics in S. Korea. He beat the dog shit out of that Korean and they gave the gold to the Korean. Pathetic.

Jone fought some bums, but that's the nature of the sport! Everyone fights bums. Fucking Toney fought Roy Jones leftovers his whole career and people call him GREAT! Pffft! Fuck that shit. Anyway, Jones was my favorite fighter until he didn't retire after Ruiz. When I saw him in the ring against Tarver in their first fight I was like, "Uh oh." He looks gaunt and drained. I knew he was done then. I stuck by him, though, not anymore. This Prince dude he's fighting soon, he'd better fuck him up and retire. No more bullshit.

Great, we finally get to disagree. Actually Jones fought a lot of Toney rejects. Toney already KO'd Micheal Nunn, fought Mike McCallum twice (not when he was old and washed up like Jones did), Iran Barkley and others long before he got to Jones Jr. You are talking mainly about Toney beating Ruiz I am sure, that is cool, also Toney should have probably got the W again Montell Griffen but overall Toney def has the better competition, especially early 90's and he NEVER got KTFO like Jones did, not even close. Yeah Jones whipped him pretty good but it was a shitty boring fight.

The only complaint I have about Roy not fighiting DM is because DM was the TRUE LINEAR Lt heavy champ when he beat Virgil Hill (my fave fighter) for the WBA, IBF belts, because Hill was Linear when he went to Germany and beat Maske (nobody though he would, good fight). Hill also beat Lou Devalle before Jones did and didn't get dropped by him either. Roy did beat Hill, but this was post DM loss for Hill but he landed the best body shot of all time I think (even better then some Mickey Ward has landed). Hill did come back and KO Tiozzo and prove he is still viable past 40 so wtf? Anyways Roy should have fought DM for the linear belt, not just collect vacant ones.

He could have fought Frankie Liles as well as some others Joe Calzaghe for instance who after what he did to Lacy proves he is worthy. My two cents on the Jones legacy, plus he is tranishing it bad now.

Now that I think of it I think I was thinking of Tarver fighting Jones leftovers. So there goes that. Haha. Jones got knocked out, no doubt, but late in his career and seriously, a punch can't get any more perfect than that one!

As for him fighting DM, I agree he should have, but not in Germany. That's why I don't fault him. Jones was THE champ, DM should have come to the US.

And the DeValle knockdown, while a legit knockdown, was clearly more of a slip. I'd talk more but it's quittin' time!

Real quick, Jones was one of the most gifted, P4P boxers ever. Maybe he didn't fight everyone he could have, but no fighter does these days. It's not the 80's anymore. Sadly.

Shit yeah, this thread is great!

A couple of thoughts:

I just watched the ECW vs. WWE and was relieved to hear that EC fuckin W is getting a weekly time slot on Sci-Fi! How kickass is that? I get to see Dreamer, Funk, Sandman, Sabu, RVD, and now Angle and Big Show wrestle each other on a regular basis. W00t! I just hope Vince doesn't try to change it into a half talk half wrestling show like Raw.

Boxing wise, I'm really looking forward to the next two Saturdays. Tarver v Hopkins should be pretty good, I'm expecting Hopkins to win a decision and go out on top. However, I am actually more excited about Winky v Taylor, I've been anticipating that one for awhile now. I think Winky will win a decision, because, as someone already mentioned, he is one of the best defensive fighters in the history of the sport and Taylor is just not aggressive enough to throw him off his game. I just hope I won't be letdown like I was for Judah - Mayweather. I really thought Zab had enough speed and power to give Floyd a run for his money, but he was out of gas by round four and got schooled. On a slight tangent, did anybody catch the Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Rocky Juarez fight a few weeks ago? Now that was some good shit! Can't wait for the rematch.

Oh, and in conclusion, Larry Merchant is about as necessary as an ass pimple. That is all.

I'm on Taylor's nuts like a wrinkle. I can't fathom him losing. Hahaha.

I don't like that there are two PPVs tomorrow night, I wanna see both. I'm gonna be at a wedding so I may just download them on Sunday instead of paying for the PPVs and recording them. You guys download fights? Here's some good sites for it:

1. http://www.tc-boxing.com (formerly boxingtorrents) (Lame, this site is gone!)

2. http://www.worldboxingvideoarchive.com

3. http://www.mma-tracker.no-ip.org (not much boxing, lots of MMA stuff) (Fuck! This site is gone, too!)

Sometimes it takes a day for the fights to be uploaded, but it'll save you cash. They're torrent sites.

I can't stand Zab, he's a worthless human being. I'm shocked he initially did as well as he did, but I'm glad he got spanked.

And yeah, the MAB/Juarez fight was good, but MAB is going downhill. He's going to start losing more fights if he doesn't retire soon. It always amazes me when I realize how young MAB and Morales are, it seems like they've been fighting since the 80's!

Larry Merchant is out of his fucking mind! All them ridiculous drunken stories he tells are insane.

Very true but actually DM was the TRUE linear champ but yeah he should have come ot the US and fought Jones Jr he made Millions in Germany though like Henry Maske so no need.

Lets just get togather and hope Tarver gets his Milk dude ass KTFO!

Ken - How do you work torrents? I never could figure that out. I am in Taiwan now so no way I will see the fights, would appreciate you could help me out with that. In China or Korea can catch them live, but sadly very rare here. Last fight I was here live was DLH v Vargas (Oh yeah, I love watching Vargas get his punk ass knocked out)

Zab - I don't know what his problem is. Sometimes he has got it, other times he is just a punk. Tzyu fucking him up was one of the greatest KO's of all time.

Barrera, shit def top 5 all time with me along with Hill and Sweet Pea but you all are right, Juarez beat him bad. I would like to see Barrera and Morales retire soon. Shit they earned it, let Juarez and Pacqaiou fuck each other up. I don't want to see Morales Ko'd again either I love Pac man but shit, that was sad.

Cool to find some other boxing fanatics around here.

As for Wrestling, I know it is fake but it is great shit. Seriously scripted are not you take huge fucking bumps through tables and shit you better know what you are doing. Same goes for Jap death matches and stuff......

They're easy as hell. You go to www.utorrent.com or some other Torrent program site (I use utorrent), download the program and then just download the torrent files from torrent site. Set the folder you want shit saved to and then open the torrent file in the torrent program. It downloads bits and pieces from multiple people until the file is complete. Then you can seed (share) for a bit, then delete the torrent file. It's easy. It only sucks when no one is seeding it, then you can't download it.

They call that KO dance of his the Cacarena.

Yep. They're old school all the way, you can only take so many beatings before it's time to check out.

Barrera will always have a special place with me, being that he destroyed that fag Prince Naseem, but he was looking his age late in that fight. Early on, though, that was vintage MAB. Brawling for a bit, then dancing around and directing the action with the jab. Juarez very obviously dominated the last 5 rounds or so, however. I think he just waited too long to get going or he might have won it.

Off that subject, how fucking long is it going to take for the heavyweight division to start being watchable again? Wlad Klitschko beat the shit out of Chris Byrd, thankfully so because Byrd is the most boring fighter I've ever seen. Other than that now, you've got that hairy Russian mutant, Ruiz (#2 most boring fighter of all time), and bunch of other nameless stiffs. They can barely get enough interest to draw a PPV anymore.

Makes all the haters appreciate Lennox Lewis huh? Shit Heavyweights are pretty dead, and doesn't look like anything will wake them up.

I'll tell you what would wake them up, a fight like Tarver and Hopkins just had. I won't spoil it for you, but it was a pretty entertaining match. Catch a replay if you can find it.

I read round by round on line. Sounds like Milk Dud got his ass whipped by the old man, big time. I wish he would have KTOF Tarver but a whipping is even worse. Go Bernard. Jez how far down the toilet was/is Roy Jones after Hopkins just owned Tarver?

I like Byrd. He's very skilled and he fights anyone. Granted, boxing politics keep him from fighting often, but the guy is tiny compared to who he fights. Sure, he's not exciting, but I respect the sweet science, you know?

I'm actually friends with people who're related to Ruiz by marriage. Eddie, John's brother, is always around at cookouts and whatnot. Kind of cool. Ruiz's problem is his punch-and-clutch style, and Norman Stone sucking as a trainer. I think it's too late for Ruiz, but had he dumped Stone early I think he could have been a lot better. As for Valuev, Ruiz beat him SOUNDLY. Valuev is a joke.

Hopkins beat Tarver silly! Knocked him down in round 5, too. Hopkins could have KO'd him, but you know how Hopkins rolls, always cautious.

Here's what I posted on the BI forum:

Quote:
Tarver is NOT a good fighter. He chased Jones his entire career, did the homework it would take to beat Jones—like a fighter should do against EVERY fighter, not just one. He did well in the first fight with Jones because he was helped by Jones' weight loss and he landed a brilliant punch in the second fight, and there it is: the one punch wonder. That sustained him through the third fight, too, but again, no "magic."

Regardless of how much skill and precision it took to land that punch against Jones, it was a lucky punch. Why? Because he's not a good fighter and he's had people fooled since because of that punch and other circumstances that have nothing to do with his skill. He fooled people, he talked a lot of trash and somehow convinced people that he was destined to be a legend, but the fact remains that he is not a good fighter. He COULD be a great fighter if he consistently showed the passion and dedication he showed with his career-stalking of Roy Jones Jr., but in the end he just does not have what it takes to be a great. His inability to take out Jones in the first and third fight was proof enough, his first loss to Johnson was further proof and this schooling by way of Hopkins is sweet, delicious icing. Hopkins was JACKED, Tarver was flabby. No dedication. He was dedicated to one thing in his "legendary" career: beating Jones. That's it. He thought Jones was his meal ticket—and for a while it was—but outside of those fights with Jones, Tarver has consistently proven that he is a B-Level fighter; the only "magic" he's ever possessed he expended in one brilliantly place left hook. ONE TIME.

He gets credit for "flapping his lips" and making it entertaining (especially before round 1 in the second fight with Jones), for riding that wave to Hollywood and selling Stallone some real estate on his nutsac, but Tarver is a joke and you fags need to realize this. If Hopkins wasn't so goddamn cautious he would have KO'd Tarver last night. I said he would do it, no one believed me, but you all saw that it COULD have happened. Damn you, Hopkins! Damn you to hell.

Fuck Tarver. I hope he retires and drifts away like Larry Merchant's sobriety.

I don't know, to each his own I guess. Byrd has bored me to tears on multiple occasions, and I was glad that Drago ERRRR Klitschko handed him his ass. I don't know why Byrd annoys me, it isn't because he's technical and not exciting. So's Winky, and he's one of my favorites (the essence of the sweet science in my opinion). Its something else I just can't put my finger on. Oh well, now that he's done hovering over a division that's watered down, at best, maybe things can move forward. I didn't see that Ruiz v. Chernobyl Baby fight, but I heard it was a travesty as well and that Ruiz should've won. That said, Ruiz just needs to retire.

i don't think pro-wrestling and the ufc/pride/boxing stuff belong on the same thread. sorry but the subjects are too different to be discused in the same thread.

anyway, i watched some parts of Judgement Day yesterday (they show it delayed here), and it was so-so. i wanted to see Kurt Angle make Henry tap out... count-out for being outside the ring is probably the least exciting way to end the match. liked Angle's counters when he was gonna get the slam from Henry, first a DDT and then the Ankle Lock. Angle rules.

Super Crazy vs Helms was nice. Super Crazy kicks ass.

Rey Rey vs JBL was nice... it was nice to see rey doing to Frogsplash, and to hear the crowd chant "619!" instead of "Eddie!" for once...

Sure they do, violence is involved in all, whether real or not.

The ECW pay per view was pretty kickass. Seeing Cena get heckled like he did and then pinned was great, as was Tazz fucking up Lawler. My highlight, though, was Sandman mercilessly shitkicking Eugene with his kendo stick. I laughed till I cried.
