I'm more middle of the road. Both sides have their postives and negatives. But, the test didn't really allow for "moderate" responses. I hate far right-wingers, but I also hate bleeding heart far lefters that think the world is capable of holding hands and singing lullabyes. Neither side is realistic, and that's why I feel so disenfranchised.

Trouble is, you can't pidgeonhole people so easily. Not all liberals are bleeding vaginas, not all conservatives are fascists.

No not the average Joes. I'm more thinking of the people who run for office in this country. They always fall into eithier the cliche Republican role or the cliche Democrat role. You may even like one of them at first, but once the campaign starts, they pigeonhole themselves.

That's pretty much how i feel too. That's why i found the test interesting. It gives a far more accurate description of one's political stance (at least for me) than the traditional left-right division.

Ah, see what you mean. Our problem on this side of the pond is that both the main political parties are pretty similar, and the next three are pathetic, hippies and fascists in that order.

indeed, the test was all about showing how "left" and "right" are outdated concepts.

"Left wing" and "Liberal" are totally different things. I am not especially liberal (although compared to some people I guess I would be).

But when I say I am left wing I refer to economic policy: ie wealth redistribution, worker rights, market regulation, progressive taxation, state ownership- all of which I believe in to the max.

Nothing to do with being "bleeding hearted" or "pc", or whatever other terms the right wing press has manufactured to upset gullible people.
