Audition is complex, it just helps to have spent time around Japanese a lot so you get some of the things in the film easier, like with Suicide Club and Cure two of my other faves.

Argento just bores me to tears, actually I wish it didn't (His cinematogropy and soundtracks are great), that and the horrible dubs just drive me crazy. I will admit I didn't check out much of his shit until the last 3 or 4 years so I might have missed the boat on it. Same goes for shit like "A blade in the dark" etc. Did you see "The Card Player" that was horrible man.

I like stuff simple, viscreal and with a punch. I love High Tension and both Saws which get shit on too.

I grew up on Halloween and horror like that so maybe that is why I like it so simple?

I loved the Suicide Club, actually. I loved a lot of those type of films, but as a whole genre it just wasn't something I wanted to explore as much as Italian or American horror.

The Card Player does suck a bit. Argento is my cinematic hero but even I would agree he's made a lot of mistakes- especially since the 90s. I agree with what you say about simplicity- I like very simple plot lines. Suspiria can just be summarised as "Girl goes to Dance School in Germany... wierd shit happens". Like an old fairytale, but with a freaky prog rock soundtrack and awesome visuals.

And yes, High Tension (or Switchblade Romance as it was called here) is an awesome film.

I really don't like the Ju-on type of horror. Korean/Japanese horror seems so stereotype. The ideas are pretty shallow, only the plot and characters differ. Totally unentertaining.

Maybe because you are from Malaysia so is not different to you like is to me? I love Japanese horror and if you look hard there is a lot of good stuff, a lot of it is sterotypical after the succes of Ringu, The Eye and The Phone.

Where in Malaysia? I go there a lot, Melaka and Kuching, cool country. I dig it.

I'm from Seremban. But I study in Melaka. I'm there most of the time. How often do you come here?

Depends, I was there like 6 weeks in feb/march but maybe not back until july. I do work at National Semiconductor there and other places.

Cool. I'll be back in Melaka from July onwards as my semester starts then. Maybe we could meet up.

Might be cool, Melaka is almost so relaxed it is boring. Usually when I am there though I go back to S'pore on the weekends because just more to do and the guys I work with it all live in S'pore.

I took a 3 day vacation in Melaka with a girl friend of mine and we had a great time just chilling and drinking in the tourist area and stuff. She was from the Phils and like all the time people kept giving us the evil eye and asking her if she was Malay. Ha ha, don't see to many mixed couples there for sure. Anyways, cool place. Even the Bus ride back to S'pore was cool.

Well let's face it. We still have a little stick when it comes to mixed couples. My uncles had some stares walkin around with their wives (one married a chinese, while his brother married an english). And it's really uncomfortable. I use to hang out with a Sabahan girl, and we do get stares as well.

well, if the money that goes into making crappy horror movies would go into humanitarian services, for instance, wouldn't that be smarter?

It would lead to warlords becoming rich and the rest of the populace continuing to get skull-fucked. These things have been tried before...

Ah, you're right, the government should force production companies into spending their money the way the state wants them to. That would be a much more respectable government.

Ignore him, Frigid. Radagast is tired of the world. You are still young and shiny, fresh out of the box, wide-eyed with excitement.

as a matter of fact, I am also kinda sick with the world, and the States in particular ( no offense to anyone here ) and I know a lot about how bad everything is compared to other 15 year-olds.

while my friends devour Hillary Duff, I get disgusted by the low level mass culture entertainment. FUCK!

I know exactly what you mean. Here am I, devouring the harsh tones and occult meanings behind a Darkthrone track when the scantily-clad whore seated on my right hand is watching hip-hop videos! I despise these ignorant sheep who swallow what is passed down from the ivory hand of goverment, to keep their little minds at ease.

Oh! America, your shores may be sparkly and new, but inside you fester like a dead whore's starving meth-addicted AIDS-infected baby of three weeks and a day. You beckon the innocent to you with the promise of devouring Duff, but instead their throats are open to be raped by your evil despair.

That's lovely, but one day you will realise not only that your views are not even as close to insightful as they seem when surrounded by stupid teenagers, but are also painfully naive. Which is fine, I'm sure you'll realise this and refine what you think to something more pragmatic as you get older, but that doesn't stop it being annoying to my very eyes at the moment (so don't take offence, I'm just a wanker).

Shut up. You don't know jack shit about the world. At 15 you're just a naive little kid. So everyone should just sit around and not enjoy themselves because of a war? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Also you obviously know jack shit about politics or military operations, so keep quiet.

i didn't say everyone should sit around and not enjoy themselves because of the war. I'm just saying people should be aware of the war and the motives behind, and of the whole Bush agenda. Using 9/11 to introduce the patriot act to limit civil rights; sections concerning the saudis in the reports blacked out; no WMD's found in Iraq, thousands of deaths; Cheney's undisclosed Task Force Documents and the excuse that he had "other priorities" for not serving in the military; diebold machines; election fraud... jeezus man, and on top of that, there's the fucking mass consumerism culture that brainwashes the people! So don't tell me I don't know shit about politics, all right?
