Tell me, what do you think should be done about the £6.8bn NHS IT upgrade in England that is falling behind schedule?

Exactly. There's a lot more to 'knowing' politics than being able to reel off a list of baaaad things America has done.

Once upon a time in the UK it was. We were up their arse for the best part of half a century (thacher and Ragen made bush and blair look like enemies)

I'm not that big on british politics, but if they've been hiding the fact that updating the NHS would cost 8 billion more than they claimed just to get it approved, then i'd saym that's... bad?

FrigidSymphony, please don't forget that Night of the Living Dead has a very strong Civil Rights subtext, and Dawn of the Dead has a very strong anti-consumerism one. Day of the Dead is zombies eating people in a bunker.

Also, please don't forget that traditionally the best horror films are the low budget ones. Throughout its development horror has consistently demonstrated that ingenuity and originality can produce better results than a large budget and major studio backing (Evil Dead, Blair Witch Project, TCM, Zombi). If anything, this should make it your favourite genre.

hey! where'd everyone go? tired of talking politics?

it's cool though how we took a horror movie thread and turned it into a political discussion

I never tire of talking politics, and neither does Zad, but we need more than just "the US is bad", man!

I think you should do the Political Compass test in Jurgen's thread, and start something in there. This thread is about how awesome horror films are. I like talking about politics, but I like talking about horror films muchly more.

So... how about those horror films, eh?

well, if the money that goes into making crappy horror movies would go into humanitarian services, for instance, wouldn't that be smarter?

lol, I would rather the money gets put into horror films. Fuck, you are never going to save the world, just give up and enjoy life, it is much easier.

Well let's face it. We still have a little stick when it comes to mixed couples. My uncles had some stares walkin around with their wives (one married a chinese, while his brother married an english). And it's really uncomfortable. I use to hang out with a Sabahan girl, and we do get stares as well.

That is cool, I understand they have some rules on that stuff. The Chinese guy I work with is married to a Malay, but he converted for her.

Ah, you're right, the government should force production companies into spending their money the way the state wants them to. That would be a much more respectable government.

Ignore him, Frigid. Radagast is tired of the world. You are still young and shiny, fresh out of the box, wide-eyed with excitement.
