Actually genetic enigeering is the term for the process of manipulating genes. Cloning is the process of creating an identical copy of an original. Two very different thing. I'm not agruing with you here i'm just curious as to how it is possible outside the relms of science fiction. If the claims of that korean scientist are true the humans have already been cloned, but i am unaware of single body parts.

When genetic engineers talk about cloning, they usually refer to clone cells, not full beings. But one typical case is to clone a germinal cell (Dolly). Cloning cells and genetical engineering is good for humanity. But cloning full humans is stupid, cause as the Dolly's creators demostrate, behaviour is cultural and not only inherited.
Cloning animals is another thing, if combined with genetic engineering.

@ Astaroth

We agree on many things. I think we should form a political party/terrorist organisation called Danes against the modern world

I could deal with cloning as long as it's not of me. :| or anybody I know :| well no. I take that back, theres a few people I know that I wouldn't mind if they were cloned as long as I got the rights of the souls of the originals. Then the clones could go off and entertain all the unimportant people in the world. Okay time to go to work for the man :| ciao.

hey, who do you think are likely candidates for the states in 2008? I'm hoping Hillary Clinton or George Clooney for the democrats.

lol, Yeah, that makes tons of sense. What the hell dude?

Wow.

Maybe I have been out of the country too long. Is George Clooney really viable? Serious I didn't know that, I thought this was a joke.

Anyways, I perdict some one will assasinate Hillary before she gets to run, lots of hate for her.

I haven't heard anything about this Clooney business. I said wow because I missed it when he first said it.

Hillary will run, she won't win, but she will run. I doubt she gets past the party nomination phase though. Her husband's sensible views and her warped views couldn't be further apart.

OK, I missed this at first, but George Clooney has not even been mentioned as a possible candidate, so we can scrap that notion. Here, if you're curious, are the (mostly) unfortunate list of possible candidates I've heard:

Democrat
Hillary Clinton
John Edwards
Barack Obama
Evan Bayh
John Kerry
Joe Biden
Russ Feingold
Al Gore
Mark Warner

Republican
Rudy Giuliani
Jeb Bush
John McCain
Dick Cheney
Condoleezza Rice
Bill Frist
Mitt Romney
Newt Gingrich
George Allen

Overall, a pretty shitty list. I would like to see Edwards or Bayh run against McCain (being that he's the only Repub. candidate who's not a piece of shit), but we'll see.

I saw an interview of clooney on johnthan Ross (tv show in uk) and he was plugging his lastest film which were political and ross asked about his political aspirations. Clooney basicly didn't deny that he has political aspirations, so thats where this stuff came from. And he probably done similar interviews in the states too.

Right. When I say not "mentioned", I am referring to political insiders and journalists (basically the scum of the Earth). Georgey can say it all he wants, but if he's not being mentioned (meaning he has taken no real steps towards running), then it won't happen.

Maybe not, but he won't get nominated. These dipshits like Gore and Kerry that lose once and try to run again baffle me.

Gore's heart is in the right place, it's just that he's a strange, strange man. Kind of scares the common man away from him. I voted for him, but the whole time, that soundbite about inventing the internet kept running in the back of my head.

Yeah I always laugh my ass of when the Euro folks with like 20 percent unemployment, high ass taxes and welfare out the ass always talk shit about the US. You know we aren't perfect but I will talk any Asian country, even China over any Euro fucking shit.

I don't know what you were trying to accomplish with this rant, but you need to get your facts straight.

Cloning is teh sux. One of the biggest problems mankind will face in the coming years is overpopulation and the growing group of old people. Developing technologies to keep people alive longer is adding to that problem. Besides form this I don't think we should start messing with the way the system of nature works. Especially when the consequences are so hard to anticipate.

The purpose of the rant is I get tired of hearing about how horrible the US is compared to the rest of the world, especially the EU when it come to taxes, jobs, etc. I know how expensive it is to live in Euro, what the tax rate and unemployment is like etc. The other purpose to point out that I think standard of living in certain parts of Asia (Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore) is much better then Europe and in some ways the US as well.

I don't just sit in my bedroom and watch CNN or the BBC are whatever, I travel and work all over the world. I haven't seen any evidance anywhere that the US is going down the toilet despite the actions of our numb nuts President (we have survived worse)
