This really does outdo the Artafact album. Good review and quote too. Lanfear is a really good band for those who like the heavier side of powermetal. Also for those who like a band with actual ideas and not just rehashing the powermetal cliches. They definetly have there own sound which in todays scene is a very good thing. Dispraise is definately my fav cut of the album, while The Unrestrained is a close second. Mostly all of the songs are good though. I agree that Eternally is a pretty weak ballad with just vox and keys basically. Would have been better had they put guitars and drums on too. However I have no problem with the sax solo, I liked it and though they used it in the proper context. I am definately a fan of this band..........

An 89 is a very high score for me. I dont give many 90's or monthly awards.

I listened to this the other day. Half of the songs I was really impressed with and the other half were slightly above average but not much more. There are some outstanding moments though. With my initial listen I rate this mid to high 70's.

I think it's time you rescinded your award of a perfect 100 on the Edguy Hellfire Club. It's a good album, but certainly not their best, and certainly not better than Melancholy Beast, or Temple of Shadows.

Other than that, you've been quite consistent with your ratings.

It used to be that all the power metal albums got the outlandish ratings. Now its the death/black metal albums. Arwen's newest album is pretty damn good, but it got a 46. Moonlight Agony's debut is fucking amazing, and that only got a 70? Meanwhile, Hammerfall's latest stool sample gets an 80?!?!?!

Do I have to start thinking about changing my homepage?

I will admit when I make mistakes and while I did give Hellfire Club a hundred... dammit Melancholy Beast is so much better. I still stand by my statements though that it is a fucking incredible record. As for Moonlight Agony, again, a band with some nice and original elements thrown in but nothing that had that same "grab me by the balls and throw me against the wall with full force" that cds like Melancholy Beast had.

And yes I do agree theres some very overrated Black Metal stuff here.
And no thats not coming from a Black Metal hater, I do know my shit and by that much more than DERRRRRR DEICIDE IS SO EXTREME.

Yeah, I just don't get what is so great about Hellfire Club either. As cookie cutter as it gets IMO. I also have to ponder everone saying how much heavier Edguy got? I liked Mandrake better. Hellfire club is not bad but 76/100 is more like it. Ben is right about Melencholy Beast though definately album of 2004! IMO
