I only smoke at parties (so once or twice a month). I'm not a smoker-smoker ... and I sort of included pot smoking in that.

So you smoke socially. That's the first time I heard that. Be careful not to go buy yourself a pack one day.

I've made a rule for myself: I'll never smoke alone.

Well, I hate smoking so call me a hater. I don't get the part-time smokers. To me that's just half-assed. If you're going to smoke, fucking smoke! Don't just smoke at parties, or when you're drinking, or when you want to take 27 breaks a day at work. Smoke all the time. Keep it real, dog.

EDIT: And you smell. No matter what you think. You stink.

I saw it when he handed it to me (in exchange for use of my gun). I guess I just never realized how truly dangeous it was there before -- even though we did have a bit of trouble once, it was nothing remotely serious.

I also wrongly assumed that, being the reasonable person I am, I wouldn't have to worry much about anyone being unreasonable to me. But it's quite apparent now that no matter what I would have said, no matter how right I could have been, it would have made no difference. When a human is that violent and chooses to be so completely irrational, what really is his life worth? Not much.

Are you mad at me or something...?

I treat cigarettes like I treat alcohol or pot: a couple times a month at parties or with friend(s).

Be careful dude, that's how I and many other people I know started. Nicotine's way more addictive then alcohol or weed, it takes a while but when it gets its claws into you it's vicious.

I'm drinking beer and smoking right now. I'm loving it really, I dunno why but I like smoking. I can't tell a non smoker why it is good. It just is. It goes great with beer. Just one thing to remember, quit before you're 30. Your body can recover fully as if you've never smoked, smoking after that age is where the real danger is.

I see cigarettes as my stress reliever, 20 little shots of alcohol substitute that you can carry in your pocket and use whenever you need it. I'll quit when I'm not enjoying anymore, before I'm 30 hopefully.

Of course I'm not mad at you!! I'm just joking around here. This is me on an anti-smoking rant with no passion.

Most people start smoking in their teens, quitting at 30 is a huge gamble. Your body will never fully recover! Plus, you could have lung cancer by then. Shit, I've never smoked anything, weed, crack or cigarettes, and I could get lung cancer tomorrow, but I'm sure as hell not going to egg it on!

Obviously being a non-smoker gives me a totally different perspective. I liken it to my eating habits, I eat like shit and I can slowly see the changes around my mid-section as I become busier with life and have less time to work out. But do I stop eating like shit? Nope. I got a Pepsi on my desk right now and a Snickers in my drawer!! I shouldn't be doing it, but I do. So I understand the addiction part of it, though I know it's far worse with smoking.

What I don't get is why! What compels people to smoke? I mean, I don't know a single person that thought it felt or tasted good when they first started, but something compelled them to continue doing it. It's just odd. Plus, it really does smell. It's extremely unhealthy and more so to those around you. Being a non-smoker, I just don't get it.

Exactly, instead of relieving stress when you smoke a cigarette, it just makes you stressed out when you dont have them, so nothing really good comes of it. I know what you mean about the smell/taste, my last girlfriend smoked before we started going out but I made/helped her stop because all her clothes smelt bad and kissing her after she had a cigarette was horrible.

The only experience I've had with G-Unit types is before my grad my friend and I found a hockey stick and ran into three of them, so we gave it to them but made them swear to cause some sort of destruction with it. We were kind of high and thought it we were contributing to the betterment of society.

I think the thing that got me started on it was mixing it with alcohol. Nicotines a stimulant and alcohols a depressant, if you mix the two you still get drunk but you retain a bit more clarity. I used to only do it when I went to bars / clubs but it slowly crept into my everyday life.

It gets classed so negatively and of course there are negative effects, but people forget that there are actually positives, which is why people (like me) still do it. For me it helps wake me up and makes me more alert as well as the alcohol thing. But like any drug it'll probably differ from person to person. Biggest negative side for me is the cost, it costs a frikkin arm and a leg to do it in Britain.

Plus you need to stand out in the street like a criminal to do it up here. :D Ah, the wonder of waking up at midday on Sunday after a night out with my clothes and hair not reeking of smoke.

Ah yes, I can't wait till that comes into force down here. I remember having to do it in New York and there it worked fine. the Thing is, british bouncers by and large are complete arseholes and will use any excuse to not let you get back in / charge you again when trying to re-enter your chosen place of drinking merriment.

maybe it was because it was a mint cig. from a very crappy brand, but the last time i smoked a cigarette all i got was a headache and felt even lazier than before. anyway my friends say that they will never hand me a cig if they can help it, which i appreciate.

i like the occasional cigarillo though, even though i think it has more tobacco than cigarettes. but it's literally once every 2 or three months.

the "other stuff" is strictly when i'm with certain friends. i won't buy and roll my own because i don't want to make that a habit.
