Just that it's an argument with a kvltist vs. someone with the word "emokid" in there title. But I'm not about to say my worldview for no apperent reason.

my pseudonym reffers to a swedish band called Serene, screamo is their style, very far from metal but with metal elements anyway...

i didn't meant any provocation in that choice, i thought i might share with open minded people, that was too much to ask as it appears to be...

i LOVE metal, i started listening to Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Saxon etc when i was 10 (that was back in 1981 !). I saw Metallica live in 1983 suporting Venom... I don't have to prove to anybody my true love of metal... now, i listen to a whole bunch of different musics with whose i will never bother you here if they're not somehow related to metal...

Emokid: Sorry but Atreyu sucks. They try so hard for credibility while maintaining a trendy image. I can't stand them.

Alright, but without basis (or knowledge of Serene) the emokid thing can be taken for anything.

And you can say whatever your musical opinions are because you can like whatever you want to, it's just when you go over your regilion and whatnot without provocation that I think things get weird.

But as far as music goes, I'm going to have to agree with Jay's stance on Atreyu.

Immortal is a positive blackmetalband. they´ve got this place called Blashyrk wich is kind of like buddhist nirvana except way better of course. Happy happy joy joy!

the word metal has lost it´s use nowadays. I hate more metalbands than I like. When a band like Nightwish can call itself metal the word loses it´s meaning. Goddamn i hate Nightwish i wish i could rip their brains out and feed the beasts outside.

Everyone tries to define the music they listen to so they can talk about it with pride and for people to understand. That´s why more and more subgenres start erupting true blackmetal, gayblackmetal, whiteblackmetal etc...

If i say I am a heterosexual you could say, well thats pretty similar to being a pedophiliac. There are similaritys, but you sure as hell don´t want people to think the same about those two words. It´s the same with metal. But i guess that word got messed up a long time ago. And now I listen to true black metal, i wonder what that will be called in a couple of years. The distinctions are important.

I agree with this review 100%. I knew once Marco left the hardcore would be back in this band. I thought the first haunted album was good musically but the vocals sucked. Revolver is the exact same way. I don't think there is anyway Dolving is going to be able to pull off Marco's vocals live. I've seen them 6 times and Marco has always made my ears bleed.
Lastly, this is no way to follow up a master piece like One Kill Wonder. The last two albums before this current flaw were reminiscent of old Slayer/Testament. Hopefully the Haunted realize this themselves

Perfectly summed up, except...

Emokid, try listening to Emperor. Despite the fact that they are very negative, they've had four flawless albums and one flawless demo (musicwise).

Emperor was the most intelligent and most progressive black metal band. Too bad they're gone... I would have killed to see them do 'In The Wordless Chamber' or 'The Tongue of Fire' live, just to see if they could...

Ah well, by then they weren't a touring band anymore anyway.

Okay, 3 things.

1: Whoever said Caliban was amongst bands that made him want to puke, or something like that... That's acceptable, if you are talking about their latest album. But, prior to that, the BAND FUCKING OWNED ALL FUCKING SHIT, and by all means cannot and WILL NOT be known as puke worthy. You should be ashamed of yourself for not acutally listening to music before judging it. Because that is what you did.

2: Atreyu is not a terrible band. They just aren't metal. If you like the wave of trendy pusscore that's all over HeadBangers ball, their about the best you'll get.

3: Emperor, they were excellent, true. But, ULVER OWNED THEIR SHIT l333333333T STYLE!!!!!!

Prometheus isn't really black anyway, it's more black/prog. IX Equilibrium is, as the name would have you believe, finely balanced and well done. Not quite Nightside, but what'd you expect?

And if you were really 'tr00 kvlt,' you'd despise all Emperor after Nightside.

My bad... I honestly thought you had mentioned Caliban as one of the bands that show Metalcore isn't (well.... used to at least) just MTV2's idea of Headbang worthy. And that someone had just assumed ALL the bands you had mentioned were crap.

A few things...

First, don't diss Killswitch Engage, deathkvlt (you did not list them as one of the bands that did not suck. I assure you Killswitch Engage kicks major ass).

Second, Atreyu does indeed suck.

Third, not all hardcore is bad. Examples: Between the Buried and Me, Dillinger Escape Plan, and I honestly like Avenged Sevenfold (I hate Thrice and others though). Most hardcore IS bad mind you (but then again, most metal is too). My biggest criticism about hardcore is the fact that it doesn't branch out enough--90% of hardcore sounds the same. Lately, though, I'm hearing a lot of hardcore bands getting pretty damn technical and doing cooler shit than most metal bands.

And lastly, Black metal is stupid for the most part. Sorry, but it is. The lyrics are retarded. The musicianship is usually shitty (it's just fast... so fucking what? Yeah... blast beats... try something new). And the vocals are terrible. Sorry, but as a vocalist myself, I must say they're just retarded. Obviously there are exceptions, but this is my general consensus on most black metal that I do hear. And I'll honestly say, I prefer hardcore.

I'm a progressive metalhead myself. I like my music technical and different (go Sikth!). I like extremes. And some of the newer hardcore that I've heard from the underground has impressed me (most still sucks, but nonetheless).

I've always considered this a site that "knows their shit", but my biggest critisism (more to the users than the reviewers) is that some people are too stuck up with being "metal", rather than simply being fans of good musicianship. Of good song writing. Of good music period. I call myself a metalhead because I find that most good music is metal. Classical is great too.

EDIT: Oh, and about The Haunted album. I like The Haunted, and I'll make my own judgement after I hear it.

Good songwriting and talented musicianship don't go hand in hand. But you distanced them yourself so no need going on about that.

Essentially, to me, it all comes down to personal tastes. You can put some of the most technical hardcore next some of the most simplistic black metal and I will, more often than not, choose the black metal. Why? Because I just simply don't like hardcore. Not because it's not metal, but because I don't like the sound, pure and simple. But I can give credit and know the hardcore musicians in that case are better musicians.

But that's how most things are with music(at least to me), the music is a sum of it's parts. The songwriting, the musicianship, and what sound they produce all add up to weither it will be enjoyable based on the listener. I can give respect to the greatest players and songwriters, but if they don't play something that fits what my personal tastes have become, I won't listen to them, because the style is simply something I don't enjoy listening to.

But I do agree that classical is great.
