after a lot of listens, my view on this has hardly changed, and if it has change, it changed the wrong way. Blind Guardian delivered a solid album but the edge is off. I miss a certain..energy in this album. Only thing to do now is to be satisfied that it doesn't suck, and wait for the next release.

I don't own a single BG album, except for a burnt copy of Live and Battalions of Fear. And from what I am hearing, this is not a good place to start. Now I like BOF and I have heard a little from their second, the thrashier Guardian seems to be my fav but I really want to get more of their stuff. And maybe one day own an actual album of theirs!

This is a great album, though.

Because it's bland, unoriginal, and uninspired. Blind Guardian has lost their edge. Every song is boring as hell. I also don't like this new 'rock' twist they've put on the music. Bad release from a once mighty band.

Im not the biggest BG fan. I've only got "Nightfall In Middle-Earth" and about 3/4 of "A Night At The Opera".

Can someone tell me what this new album is like? Compared to the albums i already have?

Unoriginal compared to...? It's hard to be UNoriginal when no one else really sounds like them...

...other than the band formed by Thomen to immitate old BG.

Right, the only band that sounds like BG is Savage Circus, and they're a blatant ripoff, albeit a great one.

Yeah, I do like Savage Circus despite what I know and have to acknowledge they are. It's like having an extra BG album :dio:

You're all downloaders! I bought this album today and there are two bonus tracks, one unlisted, and an interview. The listed track is called "Dead Sound Of Misery" and is a totally different version of "Fly," it's wicked cool.

Then there's the unlisted 8-minute plus epic of nothing but silence. :lame: Then an interview track.

I bought it this morning :dio:

Maybe the empty track is the "And Then there was Silence" finale :D

Wouldn't it be funny if that was the band's response to some pre-release complaints that the average song length had shortened since the last release?

I've listened to this quite a bit now and I like it a lot. I like every era of Blind Guardian though so I'm not suprised that I find this really enjoyable. 90/100.

actually ken, there are supposed to be 2 interviews. One in german and one in english. I'm guessing your 8 minute silent epic (cool band name potential there) is actually supposed to be an interview.
