I don't go to many shows, but when I do, I want to enjoy myself. And having a handful of pricks flail their arms so that they hit me in the face or shove me down isn't exactly my idea of fun. Now, 90% of the time most of the people there are too scared of me to try anything (if you had a top-down view of the crowd you'd see the pit swirling around me as if I had an impenetrable forcefield surrounding me, quite funny actually). But I get the occasional guy who likes to try his luck. I just don't get this whole mosh thing. Where I grew up, if someone attacks you, you dish it out ten times worse (and that's usually what ends up happening). I guess it's that survival instinct you get from growing up in a rough neighborhood. Sheesh, I just want to watch Opeth perform, not beat the crap out of some punk.

I can see why young people mosh. I used to do it when I was like 15, but back then moshing was VERY different than it is now. Still, even then I'd leave shows asking people what the band played! Hahaha.

You just can't watch the show while moshing, and nowadays you can't watch the show with other people moshing because they're retarded! I remember I was at a 311 show last year with my friend Jill and her sister. 311!! Who fucking moshes at a 311 show?!?!

Halfway into the first song off to my left I see two dudes slowly getting more and more animated, then slowly people started backing away, giving them room to be idiots. Then BOOM! They went nuts! Then a bunch of other doppleganger retards joined in! It was a retard frenzy!!! Whatever. I weigh 250lbs, you're not moving me around.

But then one jackass slammed into Jill and Dawn! THAT set me into a retard frenzy! I fucked some people up quick! It all ended with me choke-slamming the guy that hit them into the ground (concrete) and yelling at him. He, of course, couldn't hear a word I said over the music, but he, and everyone else, saw how pissed I was. You don't fuck with my female friends! I'll fuck you up quick.

No one moshed near us for the rest of the show! I was like, "I'm a baaaaaad muthafucka!"

So, in conclusion, moshing is gay.

I mosh at crappy local punk band shows where you're not missing much if you actually listen to the band. Generally people there are cool with mosing and you get picked up if you fall over and only get pushed in by your friends who are playing a joke on you

idk 311 has a very strong young teen fan base. And a fair about of hardcore pot smokeing female fans. Both of which tend to bring the kind of fools who are in there twenties dating a fifteen year old and have come to run into eachother repeatedly to prove how tough they are.

I don't like moshing either. I don't care if people do it, I just do not get involved. I keep my distance. I agree, I come to a show to enjoy myself and hear the music; not to act like a fucking idiot. That is probably why all of the concerts I go to are of jam bands. I enjoy feeling more laid back and groovy at concert events, as opposed to rambuncious and stupid.

A friend of mine went to Hedley, and she was talking about the awesome mosh pit. It angered me. Moshing is not allowed to wimp music. ALSO appearantly at warped tour, Less than Jake (a wimpy popska band) did a wall of death (which if you didn't know was pioneered by lamb of god and is outlawed in most countries because people die in it). Bah

But anyways, theres good moshing and bad moshing. If people want to run around smashing into each other then power to them, it's fun sometimes. But for every good polite mosher there's a fucktard who just randomly tackles people standing outside the pit because he thinks it makes him hardcore or something. Oh and that reminds me, hardcore dancing is stupid and retarded.

They're one of my favorite bands, but I'm somewhat biased as I'm friends with them.

I don't really hate moshing. If a pit forms near me, I just stay out of it, and watch the band. I just let the kids do whatever they want.

If you really were friends with them, you will stop them from making that kind of music.

I just did it a few weeks ago and I am 37. I like it but I woudn't fucking mosh to Opeth or some Power Metal band like these idiots do. Also that kung fu bullshit the dumb ass hardcore kids do is bullshit. Moshing is about getting it all out, not being a lame ass and starting a fight or kicking someone in the head, at least at Metal shows, now your hardcore shows, Slayer and some death core and punk band I stay the fuck away from the pit for that cos you are just asking for it. Anyways, I can only do it once a year now that I am an old man and it just hurts to much.

Best fucking pit I was ever in, def Soilent Green and Napalm Death, cool people, crowd surfed Ben Falgaust and got thrown over an amp and stepped on by him to and he picked me, cool shit.....

Worst, fucking Slayer during the Clash of the Titans show, knee to knee with some skin head fucker and I couldn't walk for like a day after that, just fucking nasty at Slayer shows back then.

Fucking retards like you said, and it pisses me off when people just slam into people that are way outside of the circle and shit too.

I don't mind people moshing if they a) do it in a sensible fashion and b) don't do it during every fucking song at evrey single opportunity.

I mean I was a DragonForce last year (DragonForce!) and this crowd of stupid little shits would literally try to start a pit during every solo. Christ, you're the ones that go an about how Herman Li is the best guitarist in the world, how 'bout you fucking watch him play for a second?

actually i like moshing, but i agree that it sucks when people start pulling all that hardcore shit (the notorious FAIRY HARDCORE KARATE BALLET).

I saw people hardcore dancing to Cellador a while back... huh... it's fucking Cellador.

And yeah I hate moshing aswell, but like KGG said it's part of the show. But, be ready to do some shoving when some little weaner hardcore kiddie butt juice comes by you.
