American Beauty - omg Kevin Spacey has a midlife crisis. the delicate piano music that they played in like every scene of the movie was annoying.

What harvesting scene? That movie rules. Everything except the big, cheesy "leap" at the end.

At work tonight I finally watched this. Now, it wasn't the great comedy some claimed it was, but it also wasn't as bad as some said. It was actually pretty damn funny, relying less on one-liners and more on performance to make it funny. Not sure if the theatrical version had nudity, but the unrated version had a lot of titty. It was kind of weird watching it at work, I felt like I was doing something illegal—which I was probably doing simply by watching a movie, but a movie with titty seemed even worse.

Nice titties, though. :)

On 24 Season 3… We need a Michelle vs. Nina vs. Chloe poll. And they finally got a Brit in! Plus, I’ve decided I quite like Sherry Palmer. Who else would shout at an old man in a wheelchair until he has a heart attack, and then watch him die? She’s up there in the awesomeness stakes with Jack. The Palmers definitely have the best storyline so far, although Chase’s baby is quite a nice twist...

Wow there, Captain Spolier!

And that baby subplot absolutely sucks! The scary part is they somehow came up with a worse one for Season 4 (the worst season). Mentally ill daughter, anyone?

Come on, you can't say the sight of Chloe trying to hide it from Chapelle wasn't good. And the worst season, you say?

16 Blocks – Better than I was expecting, but not that great.

Dogville – Would have been better if it was shorter, but the idea was good, and performances were great, esp. from Kidman. Even James Caan, who I don’t normally like that much, was pretty good.

The Believer – Ryan Gosling is a very, very good actor. He’s going to be big, if he makes the right film choices. Worth watching just for him, despite being a damn good film by itself.

No he wasn't, he was Gerry Butler. Therefore he couldn't act and was a bawbag. Gerry is only cool when I'm enjoying his work with a smug ironic snigger.

ZAD!!! Season 4 of 24 does indeed take the big one. Starts well and then fades away with the plot twisting all over the place and a bad guy more adept at escaping than Houdini, exept with more backup plans that were actually better and more deadly the his primary ones. Shame, really. Season 5 is a lot better.

actually i watched the 40-year-old virgin for the third time saturday night, and it was actually funny. it's odd that a comedy is better in the second and third times than in the first.

I liked the film's message but stuff like trying to make some pothead's ramblings about a plastic bag all meaningful and deep was dumb.

It's definitely a funny film. It's naturally funny, that's what's good about it. It doesn't rely solely on set ups and punchline zingers. There's a subtlety about a lot of the humor that doesn't rely on dialogue too much.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - this movie touched me where i pee  . Charlie Kaufman pwnz once again!

I thought 40 year old virgin was good until it turned into a romantic comedy.

I love ESotSM, great movie.

40 year old Virgin I like for the reasons Ken pointed out.

I just watech Romeo is Bleeding (Gary Oldman) for fans of Movies like the Bad Lieutineut, King of New York, Things to do in Denver when you are Dead, etc....

I'm totally with n00dles on this one.

Oh, and by the by, Bowling for Columbine is nothing but propaganda and a nice little earner for Moore.

the harversting scene at the beginning when Quinn doesn't want them to go out but they do anyway and get their asses kicked by a dragon. I didn't get what the fuck was happening until it was over. All in all, a pretty killer movie. But Van Zan is kinda... exaggerated.
