I like the LOTR version on this better than the original too. This is a great album, a must own for Blind Guardian fans.

As I said before, Mr. Sandman has to be one of the oddest songs for a metal band to cover. Not that it's a bad song, mind you. Just not something you'd expect even a power metal band to cover. 50's pop and metal don't exactly mix.

Indeed, this album is worth buying just for the awesome LOTR version, one of the best things they ever did (the original was great too, but the atmosphere they bring out on this reworking is beyond words).
Besides, the rest of the album is a load of fun, and the acoustic IFTOS renditions are amazing.

Good album, why they didnt include "Dont Break The Circle" is beyond me, as its one of their better covers IMO.

They also did an awesome Beyond The Realms of Death (Priest cover) on the Mirror, Mirror CD single and it was also on a Priest tribute album that come out in the late 90's with Helloween, Iced Earth, Angra, Stratovarius and a bunch of others.

I wonder if any omissions had to do with ownership or something.

That's the best cover ever, in my book. It's hard for me to say this, Priest being my favourite band, but BG's version is probably better.
