Too bad there is no link to a review right now.
But - what an amzing and powerful album. These guys have become the masters of the art of "storytelling Viking death metal". Their lyrics are always telling the story and the melodic chord progression is unrivaled. The riffs may not be dizzying or complicated, but the notes come one after another just like they are supposed to. Tremolo guitar kills, solos are addictive, drumming and bass-rhythm powerful, vocals fit incredibly. One of the best albums this year. Amon Amarth being "repetitive" is my gain, really.

Yeah, they're one band that has mastered the formula for never really changing all that much, but somehow never getting any less awesome at the same time.

Damn, Alex, I hate to tell you this, but I can blindly buy the CD's you have rated 85 or more. It seems we have very similar taste or maybe I'm just too lazy. Amon Amarth's latest effort will be put on my "wanted list" from now on. Right now I'm listening to Vintersorg's Cosmic Genesis and am in awe. "Naturens Galleri" is the song I got really hooked on. Whatever, I want to thank you for your efforts till now.

Cosmic Genesis is such an amazing album. I don't think Vintersorg will ever top that. I mean The Focusing Blur came damn, damn close but songs like Astral and Arcane, Cosmic Genesis and Naturens Galleri are top notch, best of genre pick songs.

I agree on the songs, and unfortunately, I think it won't be topped. Too bad Borknagar can't learn how to use his clean vocals right.

just got this album and, whaow, while it has death type vocals (which i usually dislike) it really enjoyed it... guitars are so catchy they make me want to singalong...

anybody knows other albums with great melodic guitars (i mean GREAT GUITARS !) ?

Cheers & Long Live Metal ! :twisted:

Arch Enemy's Wages of Sin has tons of killer riffing and melodies, not to mention the tight drumming and Angela's great vocals, excellent album.

Got to love the Enemy Within riff, it fuckin' slays!

Only thing I dislike about Amon Amarth is the guys voice, to messed up at times. Still awsome band.

I just don't like when it sounds super deep, like on the beginning of beheading of a king, I like it when he's not as much talking and more "screaming" not screaming but i dunno how to call it, lol.

I prefered the old and hollow grunt sound on once sent from the golden hall, this new shit is so standard...

Another fantastic AA release. Could have a better bassdrumrecording - and a more upfront snare. Vocals have improved i think, and the expression rules as always;

I think this is the worst Amon Amarth by far and so do some friends of mine that are big fans. Glad you guys all seem to really like it.
