any kind of addiction is lame, and shows a weak character (IMO). On the other hand, it can be really dangerous to the addict, and well... oh, I dunno. Just that I'm never gonna drink. Maybe a few beers now and then. But not actual 'drinking'.

Having an addiction does not make you weak, so long as it's not those faggots addicted to chocolate and shit.

I think an alcoholic, or an addict to anything for that matter is someone who literally could not function without drugs, or chocolate, or whatever. Actually, you're not really an alcoholic until you try to stop drinking and you can't, otherwise you're jsut a constant user

I once smashed a bottle of booze over my nuts then proceeded to eat the shards of glass while lighting my ass on fire. Am I a real man now?

:D

I used to drink before on both my weekends. Around 4 bottles of beer or half a bottle of whisky, rum or vodka till it started draining me. I used to wake up feeling dry and very very thirsty feeling miserable the entire day. Have cut down a lot and now maybe have just one bottle of beer a month. I think it depends upon the will power of an individual on whether he gets addicted or not. I see nothing wrong with an occassional drink. There's nothing like having a drink with your buddies and having a good time. :) I wouldn't classify alcoholism as a disease though.

If i drank all four bottles within about 60 seconds I'd be mildly to moderately drunk but I'm a lightwieght-If I drank them at any other speed no effect and it takes more than that for a hangover.

I've always pereived it as: drink alcohol enough and eventually your body will be out of whack when you're not drinking it. It then comes down to strength of will to not let it affect your day-to-day life (ie drinking at all hours, missing work) and either maintain it or possibly stop drinking for long enough that the urge eventually goes away to at least some extent. Isn't that it?
