The moment I bought 11 dreams i became a Mercenary fanboy. The moment i heard their previous album Everblack i found one of my fav. songs ever (Seize The Night). So this is another great album by what I consider one of the most talented bands (together with Kiuas).

But enough with the rant, on to the album and review.
Good review Kayla, but you could have said something about how the loss of Kral(bass) affected this album and maybe a more in depth comparison with 11 Dreams in terms of evolution and sound.
THTR is great but it took me some time to realize that because I really wanted to hear another 11 Dreams. Jacob Hansen does a fine job playing bass on this record and the guitar playing by Martin is superb although not as many great solos as were on 11 Dreams. Vocally Mikkel have the best metal voice (opinion), able to go at any range and still sound great. With Kral's departure there is no one to do the growls and this can be felt on THTR. My hopes are that with the addition of the new bassist the growls will return with next release.
Another thing that bothers me is the style "melodic metal". 11 Dreams was labeled as melodic death and imo that was incorrect. I'm thinking this more like modern heavy metal but not "modern" as in "new metal"

85/100

I didn't like this album, the songs were too long and I miss their screamy vocalist.

Yeah, that would have been tragic. I bought 11 Dreams though because its little sticker compared them to like Nevermore, Children of Bodom, Soilwork and a few other bands I liked at the time.

Listening to Soul Decision on their website right now.

Awesome music: Check
Awesome Vocals: Check

"I am here to blow your mind away" well you have succeeded in doing so, consider yourself purchased.

11 Dreams had 8 out of 11 songs 5+ min. long. THTR have 9 out of 10 5+ min. long. So...........................................................
Mercenary's best songs are the long ones and they are not something new to the band. And Mikkel is still doing the screamy vocals unless you meant the death growls which were done in previous albums by Kral but are absent here.

This is pretty good, but i dont like the clean vocals too much either. I have the previous works but it seems they are phasing out alot of the screams/growls or anything reminiscant of 90s mellow death.

You should get Everblack, i think you would love it. Screaming from the Heavens is such an awesome song. I think it is more of a "pure" album then 11 dreams. I doubt I will buy this though ,I think I only need two Mercenary albums.

I never could get into this band. I think it's the shitty vocals. They should decide whether they want to be melodic or heavy. I kind of miss the point between those two.

Lovely artwork done by my main man, Travis Smith, once again!
