I used to love Papa Roach back in the day. It didnt go past their first album though. I remember that despite the rapish vocal things they had some decent guitar riffs, especially good compared to other MTV rap/rock turds. If I remember correctly (dont feel like checking) my favorite songs were: Broken Home, Blood Brothers, something about a bottle and some song that was like 9 minutes long.

I remember all the singles since then though and I didnt like ANY of them, thought they sounded terrible, so I dunno if this band does it for me anymore.

Infest wasn't their first album, but their first major label album. A great album, though. I don't know if you'd really like the new stuff. If you watch that "Roses On My Grave" video there are a bunch like that on YouTube, all from the new album. It's just fans using things like Windows Movie Maker and making videos themselves. Some are cool, most are lame (like this one). The song "SOS" is on YouTube; this song is a bonus track on the import of the new album. The song is awesome! Why it's a bonus track is beyond me.

Anyway, check out some of those video if you're interested.

Hmm, ...To Be Loved is probably the best song I've heard from them since I used to like them (Single wise anyways) but with that it really didnt do much for me. I might download the album and check it out for curiosity sake. Who knows, I might like it, if I do, I'll buy it.

And a big 'holy shit' to what he looks like now.

Yeah, he definitely looks like an 80's rock dude now. Haha. Have you ever seen them live? They really put on a killer show! Check this song out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ib_fbo2wTk

I think it's one of the best they've ever done. The "this is an SOS" part kicks ass.

That song was much better than ...To Be Loved, interest is rising. I wanna listen to Infest again now, but my brother got rid of it (We used to swap albums back in the day).

Just type in "Papa Roach" on YouTube's page. There are a bunch of new tracks up there, uploaded to the same "video" that "SOS" was uploaded to.

"SOS" is the bonus track, though. Stupid, huh?

What kind of discussion could have possibly come from that? Thanks for playing, though. There's a consolation prize for you in the back.

@ Afeigel: A discussion about Static-x?

@ Ken: I come here for the music, but ppl just annoy me (Not you, but everyone)

@ Afeigel: OMFG i cant change my mind after a while? Whats fun at first gets to be boring. Plus he posts too many reviews in the one thread

Do me a favor, dude. Stay out of my threads. I don't need to spend my time doing these threads for the people that actually care about music to have someone come in and drop lame one-liners that are totally worthless. That's not "discussing."

This is a discussion board. You are welcome to discuss music, but you spend more time discussing off-topic nonsense, like coming into a thread talking shit about my "pointless reviews of Nu-metal bargain bin cd's". If you haven't got anything worthwhile to say, please stay out of threads I create, and don't reply to me in others.

@You - Yeah, what a way to start a discussion. What would the response have been? "Yeah, I used to listen to Static-X 5 years ago." Get real man.

@You - If you come here for the music, then why are you so interested in starting shit lately?

@You - Sorry, you failed to sway me there. You got caught making a hypocritical statement, don't try to weasel your way out of it. Here's an idea, if you don't like his review threads anymore, don't post in them!

I thought Static X were a FF rip-off? Only with more nu-metal and worse hair? And a paedophile? They're more listenable than, say, Coal Chamber are.

And Coal Chamber really sucked, which doesn't say much fr Static X. Loads of people have hyped up the singers new band Devildriver, but they still seem to sound like Coal Chamber to me...

Um...Static-X and Fear Factory and Coal Chamber are three bands that sound nothing alike.

Well, it says nothing about Static-X because Coal Chamber sound nothing like them. And Coal Chamber were a decent band. The debut was pretty good, Chamber Music was excellent, Dark Days was OK.

Also, Devil Driver sound nothing like Coal Chamber. If you think Coal Chamber sounds like Static-X, and Coal Chamber sounds like Devil Driver—which would mean Static-X sounds like Devil Driver—I'm putting my money on the clear fact that you've never really heard either band.

Shall we dance?

I've always thought of them as a poor man's, or 14 year old rape victim's, Ministry.

You would, considering you're always talking about bands you clearly know very little about. Ministry also sounds nothing like Static-X, Fear Factory, or Coal Chamber. Even when Static-X covered Ministry with Burton C. Bell on vocals they did not sound like Ministry.

Why must a lot of you lump bands together so non-chalantly? So, Static-X has some electronics in their music, so they're immediately like Fear Factory and Ministry, right? Come on! Static-X have their own unique sound! They sound like no other band. Similarities may exist, but they're trivial at best! Couldn't you just say you don't like them in an intelligent, thoughtful way? Do you have to try so hard to fucking discredit every band you dislike?

Well no, they sounded nothing alike, but they both rated highly on my 'bands I dislike' list.
If I'd never heard them then that would be pretty silly saying anything, and there's no way you could escape hearing those bands a while ago.
Granted, I've only heard one Devildriver song, but the vocals sounded like those stupid novelty ones I heard in 'Loco', so.....

Yeah I'm probably wrong since I haven't heard Static-X or Ministry in a long time, except Ministry's new album, which I heard once at a friend's.

There was a time when I really like Ministry, but that was also a time when there were only a few metal(ish) bands with electronics in their music, so it actually seemed kinda cool and original for a while when I was a teenager.

See, I'm not a fan of this kind of forum nonsense:

What is this bullshit? A typo, I suppose.

Take a listen:

DEVIL DRIVER - HOLD BACK THE DAY

Not even remotely close to Coal Chamber. Now, try to contradict yourself on a separate page next time. It's more of a hassle to point out that way.

I never said Coal Chamber and Static-X sounded alike. I said it was easier to listen to S-X, because CC is fucking godawful shite. They were a talentless bunch of idiots. And you can't trust a man who tattoos a beard on his face rather than grow one.

Then why the fuck are you even bringing Coal Chamber up? Do you just need to shit on something to make yourself feel like you're listening to the "right" kind of music?
