No doubt this album will reach my top 5 of the year...it's an incredible album! I find it rather much better than his previous effort...the savatage input is huge on this one :dio:

Based on what Marty said as far as Jon using some older riffs from the Savatage days, it's no wonder that this album sounds as close to classic Savatage as anything he's done since. I was actually surprised by what I heard and feel this is a better release than his last.....I'd give it a 90 / 100 as well! :dio:

If you've read recent interviews with Jon, this is a Savatage album, as was the last one, just under a different name.

I still havent heard this, which is strange for me seeing as how Jon is my favorite male vocalist. I dont wanna cheapen the purchase by downloading and I dont want to purchase it because of the stupid seperate bonus track for 2 different versions.. I WANT BOTH TRACKS!!

This is the heavy metal album of the year. It will be in my top 3 of 2006, no doubt about this.

I am sure I will like this. I purchased Zak Stevens new Circle II Cirlce- Burden of truth;' after reading reviews. Its ok, but juts way to"AOR", Maybe even not even as heavy as Ten is. I just could not really get into it. The cover made it seem like a good Epic Power Metal, but it barely borders on even being Melodic metal :(
I know Jons voice will blow me away :)
Savatage should have never moved in that direction with Zak i do not think.

I know, I've read several interviews. The question remains, if this is a savatage album, why under a different name?

Because the members of Savatage are so busy with Trans-Siberian Orchestra that they aren't available for Jon when he needs them. He said he won't release one of his solo albums under the banner of Savatage out of respect for Caffery, Johnny Lee and Jeff Plate. It's a matter of respect.

It's just a name anyway, so what does it matter? What matters is the music, and this album just plain kicks ass! It is my #1 album of the year and I doubt anything in the last few months is going to knock it off its pedastal.

This IS the new Savatage, whether it's called that or not.

A matter of respect? Possibly, but I read also that Caffery would anytime begin working with Jon at a new savatage album...and that was a few months ago...anyway, I think we just should enjoy the new album from Jon...because it's indeed Savatage!

God, has Oliva still got it or what! Tage Mahal was already good but it aint but a flash in the pan compared to the sheer awesomness of this album. Heavy destructors like Through The Eyes of The King and Push It To The Limit mesh in with the beauty of The Answer and Still I Pray For You Now. Jon belts it out wailing and puts the tear-jerking mode on like it was 1991 again and Believe would be next on the setlist again....marvellous.

Bejezus, this might well be my Album Of The Year. The only thing stopping there might be the new Tarot record that Ive got rolling in my player for the umpteenth time...oh well, Ill get back to that in its own review.

Great review, Marty! Magnificent record!

I think this might very well be Jon's best vocal performance ever. I just love his Paul McCartney imitations when he's in tear-jerking mode. You can clearly hear his appreciation of the Beatles shining through on this record. His harsh vocals are spot-on too.

Is there any wonder why I worship this man?
