Metal doesn't depress me. The only albums that successfully can do that are rap albums. Immortal Technique's Revolutionary volumes 1 and 2.

You just aren't open minded enough to enjoy the brilliance that is rap music!!

Who, me? No, I really really love those albums and they really do make me depressed. I didn't mean all rap does that to me, it's just that the only two albums that I can think of that make me depressed happen to be rap.

I think you caught my sarcasm, but I should make sure.

You are correct, sir. I was just assuring you that I wasn't being sarcastic.

Tool- Aenima
Not strictly depressing, but has a very weird atmosphere, as if it was under a permanent black cloud

Yeah, Reload was quite bad IMO, but St. Anger was just sooo depressing that you sat in your chair with your jaw wide open. And yeah, you said "What tha fark!!!!"

I remember hearing some classical stuff which depressed the shit out of me, I've completely forgotten the composers name though, something beginning with G. Joy Division's Closer is, in my humble opinion, the most depressing album of all time. It captures a suicidal feeling way more than any Xasthur record. Grim as fuck.

Naah. Can't spell 'composer' without 'poser'.

No, It was something eastern-european/ russian sounding. I think it's farily recent as classical goes, 20th century I think.

Gorecki! That's it! I remember hearing Symphony no.3 when I was 6 years old, and it disturbed the fuck out of me. My parents went to see a perfomance of his work, which is odd as their not big classical fans.

I'd probably want to kill myself if I thought Emperor's pre Nightside Eclipse material was better than Nightside Eclipse too.

I think both KoRns Issues and Nine Inch Nails The Downward Spiral both created very depressing atmospheres.
