Kind of hard to digest, but very original in its songwriting. This is not a CD that I would put in my CD-player for fun. If I would ever consider suicide this CD would be very well fit for background music. Very characteristic vocals and riffs, there is nothing like Tool. I'd rate it 8/10.

Great CD, love Tool, Lateralus is better though, imo.

You make a good point. I don't think anyone puts on Tool just for fun.

I'm a fan of undertow. I don't know what it is about that album but it just stikes me as the tool I want to listen to....as bad as it sounds, prison sex is my favourite tool song, and I say that adding to it that I heard the song a hundred times before actually knowing the title or the lyrical content and always said, "Hey it's that badass tool song!"

Anyways....

Aenima is a close second. Tool has a vibe to it that makes it hard to avoid. If you've ever listened to alice in chains and wanted more, I generally direct people here.

heh I play the drums and my brother and I and a friend played Schism for a school assembly. It worked well, but it is crazy hard to get the 9-4 drum time and switch between that and 4-4.

I like Tool, I really really do and I like Aenima alot. But I dont see it as a classic. I can only stand listening to this CD like once every few months. The title track on the other hand is really good and a classic song, but I dont see the album as a classic. Meh.

Great band; A Perfect Circle is also brilliant.

Tool is better, imo. I don't like APC's new CD anyways.

Haven't heard it yet; but Mer de Noms and the 13th Step are awesome albums; but yeah, Tool is probably better than A Perfect Circle... well not better; different because both of them slay.

My fave Tool album, and a massive step up from Undertow. Every track is a classic, apart from some interludes which are a tad pointless. I've never found Tool depressing, even though a lot of people say they are.
P.S I'm going to see them in November. Cannot. Fucking. Wait

I'm seeing them in 4 days!!! I agree with you, their music is far from depressing. I think the interludes are there because if they weren't, then it would just be an overdose of awesome music.

100th post! SHIT YES!!!

I think the interludes are there to add a change of pace, as their albums can be a bit overwhelming at times

I like individual songs from this CD, but I can't stand listening to the whole thing through, especially the interludes. Stinkfist, Eulogy, Aenima, and a few others I can't recall right now are definite classics, though.

I think Lateralus is a LOT better though. Every song is amazing.

I wouldn't say a lot better... although I think Lateralus works as a whole album better than AEnima since it all ties into one concept and the songs flow into one another really well.

I guess we have our opinions...I don't know if Lateralus was a LOT better, but it was definitely better IMO. Listening to Eulogy right now, though...Maynard James Keenan sure knows how to make some weird noises with his voice.

And congrats on 2000 posts...

i honestly think that this is thier best album so far, the entense riffs
hypotic vocals , and yet some of the greatest overtones and serene sounds seem to come out of nowhere , plus the intermission

I tried many times to get into Tool, but I never did. I am not debating its classic status at all, I mean just cause I dont like it doesnt mean it isnt a classic. This is the only Tool album (besides Undertow) that had songs I liked on it. I hated the interludes though, I dont understand why they are there other then to be skipped over after 1-2 listens.

The baby crying and how intermission goes into Jimmy are awesome... the other interludes are meh though.

I kinda liked that satan one (i think thats an interlude anyway) except the lame voices that go throughout it.
