Glad to see this get reviewed as it was one of the first metal albums I ever heard about 5 years ago when I was getting into metal (WT's Dark Wings is what sparked my interest into the genre). There is a mood created by the songs on Enter that I cant put into words, which is why Im not a reviewer, but I do know that I love whatever its doing. You gave it a fair score, I would probably rate it a little higher, not much though.

Absolutely love the cover to.. could look at it all day.

I have to say that I'm pretty happy that WT sold out with The Silent Force, simply because it means that they'll never release a borefest like this again. Most of the songs drags on for far too long and Westerholt's growls are some of the most grating and emotionless growls I think I have ever heard. There are moments of greatness here and Sharon's vocals are stunning as usual but IMHO Angels Fall First, Mother Earth and even The Silent Force are better than this.

EDIT: I totally agree with TSM about the cover

I own nothing by this band. They're one of those bands that I always meant to check out way back when this album came out, but never did. Then I continue down that need-to-check-this-band-out path and all of a sudden they have like 5 albums and a bunch of singles! Now it's a daunting task!

Edenbridge is another female-fronted band I always meant to check out; now I'm in the same boat.

Edenbridge is ok, but you are better of with just lisitining to Nightwish over and over, symphonic flower metal with good fem vocals. I have one album, you can have it if you want.

Motherearth is ok but bores me to tears. I am like the other dude, I actually like Silent Force and I KNOW you would Ken, you should get it.

I would suggest if you want to get some high quality fem front metal and you don't already own it get Dreams of Sanity - The Game. That is an awesome album.

I actually don't mind if one band sounds like another as long as it's good. There's just so much out there I miss a lot of them.

Dreams of Sanity, eh? I'll throw that on my lala.com want list.

If you like Lana Lane you will like Edenbridge, just a heavier version. Get it one otheir albums, you will probably like it.

That Dreams of Sanity is on Dark Symphonies I think. I bought it in Taiwan but sure you can find it.

Dark Symphonies has some good shit. They're located like 40 minutes from me.

Anyway, Lana Lane rules, dude! I've heard Edenbridge through downloads in the past, but I just never bought anything. I'm sure I'll like them as I've always meant to buy their shit! Hehe.

I first heard WT as a music video for a videogame,Knights of the Temple.I was and still am a big Enclave fan,and when I heard that Starbreeze was making another game I was totally thrilled though we(US)never got it.Still,my sis and I loved the video and eventually bought a few albums.Mother Earth is alright if not kinda boring.

THat's one thing that keeps me out of Goth "metal"(more like heavy rock),is the lack of variety in songwriting, structure and talent.Still, its nice to see a review for them.

There is plenty of variation and more then enough bands are full on metal if you find the right ones. If I call it Goth Metal it is most certainly "metal". Silent Force and some more WT albums aren't really.

It is mostly the fact that the genre is flooded with copy cat bands just like any other genre so it is hard to find the originals, and before anyone says it.......no.......Nightwish doesn't play "gothic" metal.

Hmm, this album is pretty damn boring. So is Mother Earth but at least it has some great flourishes here and there. I haven't bothered listening to The Silent Force because when I saw them live they played about 8 songs from it and they all sucked.

I can't disaggree more with most of the posters.

This was the first album of WT and with the following maxiCD The Dance will remain the only WT's CDs for me.
I've listened so many times to this CD that it's all scratchy and won't play anymore.
ME have great songs but some of them are so ridiculous, it ruins the experience of a spin for me.

It's funny how ben hears cheesiness in Restless when Mother Earth and Silent Force leak of cheesiness and dull ilikemethelicornsandIlivealonewith14cats fantasy inspired material.
But he's right, it was a golden age for female metal band : Theatre of Tragedy 1st two albums, the Gathering's 1st two albums with Anneke, Lacuna Coil's 1st two albums (again!), same again with Orphanage and finally Celestial Season's Solar Lovers.

Since Robert gave up on growls, the only concerts worth the ticket were those with Orphanage lead singer George taking on the growl part for the old songs. Damn those were good ol'days ; ;

I remember Enter being a bit boring, but so is Mother Earth, while Silent Force is so weak it's not even worth mentioning. WT is overrated beyond measure.

I don't get the Nightwish comparison either. Angels Fall First was a power metal album.

Someone mentioned Dreams Of Sanity, now that was a band that pissed all over WT and most other female fronted bands. Sandra Schleret had a unique delivery and mainman Christian Marx was a very talented songwriter, who knew exactly how to mix up melody with intricacy. Too bad they split up. I see Sandra has a new band, Soulside, together with Jörg Michael (ex Rage, Saxon, Grave Digger, Running Wild, Mekong Delta etc.), I'll keep an eye open for that one.

Nope, nothing gothic either. I think Symphonic Heavy Metal is appropriate.

You are nuts, they certainly have never released a Gothic metal album either. You can call it symphonic neo classical female fronted metal if you want.

Ken - Do you listen to Seraphim from Taiwan? They have some excellant albums, especially Ai, how about Fatima Hill from Japan? Another great fem front Metal band.

Nope. Heard of them both, though. I'll look into them.
