It's not a question of both being useless, it's a question of the Republics being actively destructive and amoral, with the democrats being significantly less so.

I have never lived in the US, but here political correctness is the most meaningless term, that was practically invented by conservatives that were crying about the progress of social liberalism. It kind of pisses me off to see literally centuries of enlightened progression being sniped at by manipulators in the right wing media that have somehow managed to convince white middle class christians that they are the most oppressed group of people on the planet. I have lost count of the number of times I have heard racists and quasi fascists arguing, and eventually it just comes down to "umm, but teh newspaper said Muslims/blacks/gays/single mothers/students/ill people/the Polish are treated better than me and thats political correctness and its bad"

Well, the only thing our congress can ever agree on is when it's time to give themselves raises. Other than that, the sit around and circle jerk each other while being as partisan as fucking possible. It stopped being about what is good for the country, and became what would be good for our party. The are all just a bunch of silver spoon fed jackasses who are completely out of touch with the people they are supposed to be serving. The interests of the common man are the last thing on eithier parties mind. It's all just talking points and slander while the real issues are ignored.

As for the Political Correct thing, you would just have to live here to understand what I'm talking about.

Besides doesn't the UK mirror the US with your swings of ultar coservative leaders and vice versa? I know it is fashionable to bash "W" but you guys in the UK do seem to follow our lead for everything, even the war in Iraq.........

People convenietly forget this EXACT same thing happenend when Clinton was president and the Republicans took over both the house and senate.... It is just this nation and they way people react to what they hear on the news and what they think they should do.

Liberals don't want you to have any freedom either. They want control every aspect of your life through the Gov via taxes and 9 million laws about what you can and can't do.

Basically agreed, but I was much more inclined to vote Repub before their spending got out of control. Heck, Repubs are better at spending money than Dems. I was also just tired of the Republicans being in control of everything.

Alright guys, I did not mean to start a shitstorm. All I wanted to do was prove to myself that I could make a joke that contained the seemingly unrelated genres of punk, garage rock-revival, and goregrind. I failed at trying to be funny...............................

Hmm, we haven't had an ultra-conservative leader in quite a long time, and it seems pretty likely that our next one will be socially liberal as well. I think it's kind of simplistic to say that politically we just follow you guys. I can't imagine this country ever becoming as conservative as the US- maybe the government would want to be more like you but it wouldn't be tolerated by the electorate.

Anyway, the whole idea about liberalism/PC reducing freedom of thought is a big thing everywhere, but I have yet to see any significant evidence either first hand or globally that makes me think it is anything other than conservative propaganda.

That's not the issue at all. It's not about being polite, it's about making the entire country walk on eggshells around one another in fear of *GASP* offending some over sensitive pantywaist. Most Black people can't stand the term African American, and are perfectly fine being called Black. Bob Johnson named his television station Black Entertainment Television not African American Talking Picture Box. It's just pointless nonsense. If you lived here, woulld you want me to call you a a Jewish American? Or an Israeli By Way of Britain American? Why not just plain Jewish? Or better yet, we should just call everyone who lives here what they really are, just plain Americans.

Agree, but it does go too far sometimes. Not that that's anything to be concerned about. I'm left shaking my head at the infinte number of interchangable Express headlines like:

PC MADNESS GRIPS COUNTRY

When it should really just be:

LOL PEOPLES ARE STUPID
NATION SHRUGS

Agreed mostly, but then a lot (quite possibly all) of those Express type headlines are not even blown out of proportion, but in fact are completely fabricated (the baa baa rainbow sheep one, for example) or alternatively twisted in a way that hints explicitly at some kind of anti-christian conspiracy (the whole "christmas is banned" thing they do every year)

A lot of the time I just think, "oh well that's the Express" and shrug, but actually I think this type of thing really does functions as a recruiting agent for racist parties. I would imagine (and have seen this too in my own experience) that a very significant proportion of the BNP's support, for example, comes from people that have been given a massive complex by these types of headlines. So it's true that it should be laughed at but at the same time I really think it has a genuinely harmful effect on race relations and other connected issues.

Dismantle civilisation and return to tribal groups, I say.

The republicans are an amazing party because they are so hypocritical it boggles the mind (eg. claiming to be conservative while skyrocketing the nation's debt).

You can't take the fuckers seriously, Charles. The only way to defeat them once and for is to make them a laughingstock in the eyes of the nation.

And yes, some people go over the top. Better than going the other way...

And for the record, I'm British. The family tricked me into converting when I was young and innocent.

Well, I don't take the headlines seriously, but I see the message they convey as something that is worth worrying about because of the way it makes people think.
