I thought that was the funniest part. I also laughed when the kid died. I guess I have no line that can be crossed.

It was funny in the beginning but fucking hell it suck when it reached halfway all the way to the end.

I liked that episode for the most part, since I've actually been waiting for somebody to finally parody the whole "Sports Comedy" genre. It basically twisted almost every sports comedy cliche (struggling team gets seeming "star player," in this case Ike, yada yada yada). Though I did find those Steve Irwin references rather immature (I guess they were Parker and Stone's responses to the way people were complaining about their portrayal of him in the Halloween Party episode), and that preschool kid's fate at the end was sad.

Not if you really understand what Parker and Stone were making fun of. In almost EVERY sports comedy, you see the underdogs (ie. the stars of the movie) being pitted against the big bad undefeated "other team" (usually the team that, in the beginning of the movie, is seen either making fun of them or outcasting them). The underdogs, because they believe in themselves, somehow manage to defeat that "other team" and become the new champions. I think Parker and Stone were trying to show how worn and tired that whole routine is by showing what often happens in real life when you stack the "biggest underdogs in the world" (in this case, Stan's Pee Wee hockey team) against the "big bad undefeated champions" (in this case, my state's own Red Wings), regardless of how much the underdogs may "believe in themselves."

That was fucking great! I was even a little offended by that part, but that's what makes this show so great. And Seinfeld has a good point. You can't just watch what is on the surface and get all "Oh no! Babies are getting beat up!" You have to realize what the joke is actually about for it to be really funny.

I just watched the season finale and I must say that overall I liked it. It had some recycled material, but that was somewhat expected following the two parter "Go God Go" episode. The ending was great, and I especially liked the ridiculous attitude of the Red Wings, it was like they didn't understand that they were playing against kids who barely could skate.

Anyone who claims to be a fan of South Park and yet complains about the ending of this episode (or any other scene of the course of the series) for being in poor taste can't have payed much attention to the show, or he is a hypocrite. Part of the humor in the show is to offend, and to offend anyone. It may look strange and unreasonable, but really, so does any kind of humor if put under a microscope.

And really, is a kid dying from leukemia worse that a kid being tricked into eating his own parents (Scott Tenorman must die)?

The only things in South Park I find across the line are the sex scenes (like in Go God Go) and the shit jokes (Like when cartman gets a tv nanny and she ends up insane eating her own excrement). Stanley's Cup was fine for me, no lines crossed.

Yes. Family Guy's first few seasons were funny, but they never became as funny as South Park or first ten seasons Simpsons (or, indeed, a show like Clone High). The last two seasons of Family Guy have been mainly horrible; like, worse than modern day Simpsons.

Family Guy used to be pretty good, but since it returned it has been some of the worst crap ever.

South Park>Family Guy
Futurama>Family Guy

Well, after watching Stanley's Cup again, I can honestly say it isn't a very good episode. I do like the idea of (finally) parodying those cheesy feel-good sports comedies like The Mighty Ducks and The Little Giants. But the episode is lacking in the laughs, and it just has a very rushed feel. As if, much like with Season 8's Quest For Ratings, the whole reason it was created was because Parker and Stone were contractually obligated to release a certain number of South Park episodes for Season 10 and couldn't think of a way to top Season 8's classic Woodland Critter Christmas. So at the last minute, they fiddled around with some film stock, yawned and closed the season with this episode. The fact that Cartman and Kenny were nowhere to be found simply reenforces my belief.

+1 on almost everything, with the sole exception that i think Clone High is a hideous show.

I haven't watched all the seasons yet, so I can't say... although 10 and 8 are pretty awesome. Stanley's Cup made me almost cry laughing (even though they hardly had to try with a plot like that)

Family Guy is really funny for 3 or 4 episodes, but after that it just kind of gets dull and repetitive once their shock humour gets to be predictable... South Park is less predictable so you can never tell for sure what will happen next.
