Holy shit I haven't seen a movie this good in a long time. It exceeded all my expectations and then some. IMO, we needed a movie like this. A good modern Mafia movie that shows there is still life in Hollywood. This movie was simply amazing. Go see it, love it, and enjoy the Irish metal song that sounds like Eluveitie.

I started a new thread for this b/c it is that damn good.

It is a fantastic movie. Second best of the year after The Fountain in my opinion.

I think it's the best movie of this year so far. Everyone gives amazing performances, and it's just so good. Unpredictable...to say the least .

There's still life in Hollywood? This is a remake. :lame:

And I thought it was very good; but I also thought it was very typical and overrated. Like you didn't know how it was going end!?! That's how they all end.

And that song is "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" by Dropkick Murphy's! :dio:

Are you kidding? There were several points where I thought it was over for sure only to have something else happen.

SPOILER

I wasn't expecting William to get shot. I also wasn't expecting another crooked cop to be involved.

OMG SPOILER GOBBLE GOBLE GOBBLE

The second crooked cop was the only weak bit. Chase from 24 just shows up again after like an hour offscreen to get pwnt after Deus Ex-ing Matt Damon out of trouble. Bleh.

Awesome film though.

the only surprising bit was SPOILER when that other crooked cop revealed himself.

but it was still an excellent movie. it was a remake, though... most big movies today seem to be one of the following:
- book adaptations
- remakes
- sequels
- historical movies/biographies

It ended just like Infernal Affairs, but it was a good remake. I am telling you guys though, you have to at least see Infernal Affairs 1 and 2. 2 is the entire back story and the ending is totally ice cold and brutal.

I saw Borat so my IQ could drop 100 points in one setting but I loved it.

This movie was a terrible, bloated mess. Jack Nicholson played a caricature of his crazy self and Scorsese continued his descent into irrelevence. What was with the neverending and loud soundtrack!? The only decent things about the movie were the directly "borrowed" shots from the original movie and DiCaprio's decent acting. Watch Infernal Affairs instead.

The fountain got really bad reviews  I haven't seen it yet, but I keep seeing all these reviews where it barely gets past 50%. I think they must be mistaken though because it looks awesome.

A lot of people will also tell you it's one of the worst movies they've ever seen. There is no straight-forward narrative, and if you do not understand the movie, you will get nothing from it.

Hey, the more bad reviews it gets the quicker it is released on DVD.

I thought it was overrated and that matt damon plays the same new yorker punk like in most of his other movies. I am not saying it was bad, but after all that I heard I thought it was gonna be way better then it was. I do think that leonardo dicaprio should win an oscar though. He, jack nickelson, and martin sheen carried that movie (though mark wahlberg was great for the small part he was in).
