I saw these guys in Springfield , Virginia at Jaxx when they opened for Stratovarius. I thought they were incredible. I picked up their first two CD's that night. The bass player was running the merch. booth and was totally accessible to fans. Based upon that ( and after hearing "Severe Emotional Distress on MySpace) I bought the new CD on release day and it's one of my top CD's for this year. No one sounds like them IMO and they mix so many different styles so fluidly and flawlessly. In a world of carbon copy bands in many genres these guys have carved out their personal niche, which I feel is a really tough thing to pull off in today's metal world.

Ok I just stole this album, but I'm going to bed and plan to spend all of an hour and a half in the house in a state of consciousness over the next two days, so maybe I'll give it a listen on sunday night after the football.

I think this is just better than terrible. The music is occasionally interesting but frankly not all that technical while the songwriting is stale and predictable. This is structurally a pop music album. Verse/Chorus format for the most part. The sugarsweet clean vocal choruses are extremely irritating and strongly remind me of what every other popular band does these days, except the vocals are higher. And yes the vocals are atrocious. The power metal singer mixes the worst aspects of King Diamond, James LaBrie and Bruce Dickinson to create some of the most annoying singing I have ever heard. And while I anticipate only Noodles may agree with anything I said, I don't care. 25/100.

Well I still think it's a great cd in my top10 for 2006 not many bands I like with cookie monster vocals COB,Epica and a few others but these guys rock and they are different which seperates them from a lot of bands.

And that's from an Into Eternity fan. Double burn!

If you liked those two songs, then yes. The whole album is basically in that vein.

not it's not. for me the album gets much better after "A past beyond memory". i didn't like the songs before "surrounded by night" at all, except for "severe emotional distress".

dunno, the songs from the second half of the album come off as faster and with more "flow" to me. also, i didn't like the almost Halford-ish voice they did in some of the songs from the first half.

but of course, that's just me.

I think it's because they can barely pull it off. Anyways, I would suggest they stay within their vocal range. The rest is very good, as expected.

Been listening to Into Eternity since Buried In Oblivion came out and I thought this was a stronger album myself.

Can't wait for the next release, to be honest. I think they'll step it up another notch as they have been since they started.
